Not sure if any Scots or Irish would sign part time for a Welsh club though. Maybe a Welsh llama can enlighten us if there are many playing in the Welsh league.
As of the beginning of the 2006-2007 season (well as of 25/09/06 so a bit after) the registered players in the Welsh Premier League comprised of the following nationalities.
230 Wales
68 England
2 Northern Ireland
2 Spain
1 Republic Of Ireland
1 Australian
To be honest, I'm not sure if that is a full list, it seems a bit of a low count. Link below. It gives a general idea though, and it's what you'd expect really, mainly Welsh (obviously!) and English, with a couple of lost Spaniards and an Aussie who probably is back-packing and can't be arsed to move on. He's a keeper btw, so doesn't have to do too much.
Thanks for the responses everyone. I think that this is an issue that should be looked into based on what fugazi said above.
Just a question, though: does this list take into account second nationalities, becuase I noticed looking in the player's profiles that many of them have second nationalities as English, or, in some rare situations, Welsh.
I just took the count from the nationality given on the squad list rather than looking at each player individually. Depending on the location of the club, I'd imagine a fair few of the players would have dual nationality (we don't get shunned by the village if we marry the English anymore, although personally I wouldn't do it . I went Nordic instead ) Even taking that into account though, still not many Scots or Irish.
When I was living in Wales, a few of the lads I knew who played for Premier sides were English-born, but had been living in Wales since they were very young. These would, I reckon be the main dual nationalities.
