Has SI ever made a definitive statement as to whether the game targets specific positions for injuries? I ask because, late at night, someone is going around and tapping all of my Chimney Corner right wingers on the knee.

Seems to me that just a random injury generator would be enough to occasionally decimate a position. Wouldn't that be enough for those sadists?

I've never heard of this actualy being programed into the game.

If you're getting a lot of injuries you should take a look at your ..... hey, who left the door open to the tips room? [SLAM]

The game does not target anything specific when generating injuries, except as you would expect, injury proneness, lack of match fitness, jadedness, condition etc.

Well blow me down, that reminds me of real life

reggie: just to add to what Kriss already has said...

while playing LLM you`re not actually dealing with top professionals..

So if some fat bloke who drinks until he is senseless 4-5 times a week suddenly turns into a wobbly injury-prone character, we shouldn`t be that surprised (a certain Vauxhall player)

but seriously, think of what they do in real life to reduce injuries and you`ll probably find out that it works in FM as well...

Thanks for the responses. I've been playing the FM /CM series for years and it seems that the injuries have come in bunches (at specific positions) in FM07. But I'll take it on faith that the game design does not, in fact, target.

There is some logic to it, if your AMC has spent 30 matches pounding up and down the touchline, his chances of injury increase daily.

When it happens his underused understudy will certainly be less than match fit so his chances of injury are manifestly greater.

When he gets his the third in line will have spent 6 months downing beer and burgers between the odd foray at the fag end of a reserve match, so he is an accident trying to happen.

Number 4 will be a callow youth from your youth team who is only there because his salary wasn't worth saving.

Beginning to get a pattern here?

kriss--

Beginning to get a pattern here?

Yeah, in general that makes sense. But, in this particular case, I don't think it happened that way. I can't remember the exact situation now but, last season, I lost about 4 players in one position early on, then 4 in another a couple of weeks later, then 4 in another after another couple of weeks. The injuries seemed to be rotating through the team.

I have no problem with it if the injuries are realistically generated. It just seemed awfully suspicious when it happened.

nobby--

No, it's FM07 but I am thinking of taking the team to the FedEx Hezbollah Mideast Invitational scheduled for next August. Should be fun.

Reggie fails completely to spot the historical gist of my post.

If you're referring to some violence and strife from the past, then I'm right with you; that's why I cited some upcoming violence and strife. If not, then it indeed went right by me and please explain.
