Default Quick Start Up Question

I have chosen a low league team. There is no staff beside myself and the chairman. All players are gray. In the header thread, it states that all staff hiring should be through the Job Center. I have 11 days before my first friendly match. Is it just assumed that for the first year, I would just sign all/most of the gray players, and then when my staff is hired, and the scouts are under way scouting my country, I would then make a move to sign new players? Also, if I play a team in a friendly, could I ask that player from that team for a trial, and then sign them even if my scout is either not hired yet, or just starting his scouting job. Thanks for any help, and you guys have a nice forum here.

I'm not sure how to answer this without it constituting as tipping. Its your choice: sign and use the greys; wait for your scouts to fire up or a mixture of both. Someone else can probably answer this better than I, and answer your query about trialing as its a feature I almost never use.

You can always tell when it is the school holidays. We get a plethora coming in from the unmentionable places.

Welcome!

What team is this? Could make for a new LLM challenge on FM07?

As to your questions:

1. Signing players after taking them on trial is fine (if the player & club agree to it). Regulars are in general agreement that this is an acceptable method for signing players.

2. Use of the player search function is strictly prohibited. However, players identified in the news section are fair game.

3. Scouting/trial of players from friendlies is fine as long as the board allow you to scout them. Eg. if you are only allowed to scout in England only England based players. This is a guideline of realism.

4. Although discouraged,in case of emergencies it is acceptable to use the staff search to hire staff. Eg. since you have no staff, using the search to sign a scout would generally be acceptable.

As a general comment. Apart from the strict rules listed in the headers, such as player search, everything else is a guideline on realism. You might consider how realistic it would be for a novice manager on his first day on the job with no knowledge to hire T*m, Di*k or Ha**y. Also, most of us here play long term games of 10 seasons or more so not being able to do much at your first club is not a big issue (a badge of honour for some). Consider it work experience.

Check his posting history. Regular posting in T&T over the last eight days, including he last one only two hours ago do not suggest he has an interest in LLM.

It's not like some who come from there where that has been a gap since they were active there.

Like I said, it's kiddy holiday time.

Egg on my face. I thought the name looked familiar.

I think your location comment states it perfectly.

Thanks for the replies. I purchased this game a couple of weeks ago, and with not really knowing much about soccer and the strategy of the game for that matter, I am learning as fast as I can. Yes, I am aware that looking, let alone posting in the above mentioned forum sections is prohibited while starting a LLM game, this is a question that I thought I ask because in the future I am in interested in starting a LLM game. Thank you very much for the replies, and I apologize if I offended the regualar LLM crowd.

Just thought I would add that I am participating in Gundo's FM2007 Small club from a small nation European adventure challenge. where I picked the Eastern B group in Bulgaria. You go on holiday one year and pick a amateur team that just got promoted to the lowest league. In my case the team I selected did not have any coaches and all my players were gray. As I am not currently playing a LLM game, I was curious on how a LLM would handle my initial club situation and hence asked my question. Again thank you for the responses, my question has been answered.

Not a problem.

Enjoy your game and maybe you'll join the LLM fold in the future.

One AM and Physio could be considered as minimum staff and can be searched for.
If no staff is available the LLM hardliners don’t call out the Spanish Inquisition for this (I think .. I hope)
