Immortal 2011/2012

Time to play with the big boys. And the big boys didn’t see me coming for the first 3 games. However after that they decided to give a proper beating and I was struggling against relegation all season and losing and drawing key games weren’t doing me any good. Neither was getting 3 red cards in a 6 point game were the ref gave out 9 yellows and 3 red cards and got a 4 in rating for it. We ended up at 13th, 2 places away from relegation.

My new stature as a Primera Liga team got me some attention from a few players and I ended up signing 6 players using every penny of my amazingly high budget, 427.024 pounds. They were all under 20 and very promising.

Even though most people in here hate cups, my team loved it this year. I got Sporting in the first game, and won after probably one of the biggest thrillers in football. I was down two goals with 10 minutes to go but managed to draw level. I then went 2 goals up in extra time but they drew level. I then won on after 4-3 after taking 9 penalties. I then beat Naval in the next round before playing Porto with a touchline ban on my back. However my ass man did well and won 2-1. After beating a Liga de Honra side and Academia I got to the final against super team Benfica who thrashed the league with an amazing 27 wins in 30 games and a total of 82 points out of 90. I wasn’t able to stand in their way and they soundly beat us 6-0 with my first team keeper playing the Euro U19 qualifications at the same time. However seeing how Benfica won the league we were going to Europe.

At last we were making money and the season ended in about 600 000 in black. At the end of the season the club announced that they would build a new stadium for 52 million pounds and they would then also sell the current one for 275k. This would mean 475k per month for 25 years. That’s 5.65m each year. My bank balance has gone to hell specially since we won’t be able to use the stadium until after 2 seasons.

Imortal 2012/2013

Season started well with a game against Benfica in the Super Cup. Much to my surprise we won 3-2 thanks to some sturdy defending and quick attacking. We had a good start but the closer it came to the end we dropped more and more. With about 1/3 left to play of the season we stumbled in our battle for the top 6 and therefore missing out on Europe. We ended 11th with a few points in hand against the team below and a few points behind the team above.

Europe went good and we got to the group stages after beating Hearts 2-1 on agg. But losing 1-0 to Besiktas in a game we dominated meant we were going home. A draw and we would have gone through to the next round.

The Portuguese cup was not for us this year and we lost to Sporting in our second game.

Finances were appalling. Over the season we went down 5 million pounds which left us at about 4 million in the red. And our new stadium wouldn’t be ready for another year.

My contract then ran out on the 30th of June and I decided to jump ship. Finances were so out of control that nothing I would do would have an effect, especially with no games in Europe this year.

My young goalkeeper was then picked as keeper of the year.
