This is really hacking me off at the moment.

Exceedingly brief background info:

Season 1 - Holiday
Season 2 - Margate Conference South
Season 3 - Margate Conference South
Season 4 - Margate Conference South
Season 5 - Margate Conference National
Season 6 - Margate Conference National
Season 7 - Margate Conference South
Season 8 - Margate Conference National
Season 9 - Margate Conference National
Season 10- Margate Conference National
Season 11- Margate League 2

I'm just starting the 11th season (have just finished friendlies).

Around about season 2 my scout found a very handy DL who played exceedingly well and was instrumental in us getting to the conference national the following year. FM reported him as worth approx 80k by the time we were promoted. Offers were coming in for him at about 250k - 300k.

We didn't have much money, but we weren't losing what we did have. I considered him more valuable to the team than 300k so wouldn't sell him at any price.

Then Wolves come in with an offer of 1M :eek:
The board override me and accept. Bye Bye DL.

Since then my finances have remained pretty stable, hovering around the 1M mark (not gaining, not losing.)

After season 7 saw us take a dip back in the conference south our attendances never really picked back up, even though we bounced back straight away. Some players already had generous pay rises due to them playing in the conference national and the second promotion to get us back to the conference national saw the wage bill go up even more (mandatory 25% wage rise on promotion).

During season 10 players were starting to ask for silly money, even though we were still in the conference national. Now that we're about to start our league 2 campaign the demands are getting ridiculous.

In the last two seasons we've hemorrhaged 1.1M cash and are now broke, despite my best efforts to offload reserve and youth team players. Still my players are asking for massive wage increases to renew their contracts, and unless I comply we'll see the conference national again before you can say cups suck ass!

Why do my players not understand they are asking for money which simply doesn't exist?

Has anybody else had this problem?

If you have had this problem, I don't want to know how you turned it around... I just want to know I'm not alone!

I have, didn't solve it, had to let them go, got relegated, got sacked.

Thankfully the jump from Conference National to League 2 has seen my attendances also jump from about 1500 per game to around the 3800 mark.

So firstly, Thanks SI for getting that fixed. I remember previous versions where your attendance would drastically fall after getting promoted.

Somehow I made a decent start to the season, managing to stay in the playoff places until 6 games in. I think that was a big factor in keeping the new attendances high. I'm now finding our true form and slipping down the table, but it seems the gods have granted me some time to resolve the money situation.

I've had that problem, there is a solution and it involves launching oneself off the side of the sea vessel into onto another sea vessel. Alternatively you can wait for the bullet. I'm yet to find a satisfactory solution though.

Sounds to me like a perfect LLM experience.

So what's the learning in that situation? You obviously are dependent on guys with expiring contracts.
