Why exactly is it considered cheating to look through players from teams a manger would obviously have heard of in real life?

I don't think it is true LLM, if he were to watch reserve matches with these certain youngsters then I would have no problems with that.
But in my book I rely on my scouts 100% to find new players.

If you mean people like ManUre's Portuguese winger and ARSEnal's French striker, then I think it makes no difference whether you look at them or not, no chance in hell of getting their signature.

Cheers for the comments guys,

My scouts have found all the premiership reject youngsters on their own (with the exception of one who was mentioned in a news item so I sent the off to look at him)
I had competition from a lot of other teams in League 2 for most of the signatures.
Out of the 5 I referred to in my last update, only 1 is a definate first team starter.... I'm beginning to see why the others were dropped by their clubs in the first place!
This season I'm also receiving annoying offers of premiership/championship teams nearly retired OAP players on almost a daily basis!
Due to illness I'm flying through this season so my next update shouldn't be too long in coming either...

This is excellent Lee, well laid out and straight to the point. Take screenshots of Yeading in the Football League and keep them for posterity, the only way it will ever happen now IRL will be as Yeading and Hayes FC!

Really? Where will they play now, I used to visit Church Road & The Warren quite a lot in my youth. It's a shame in a way, but I suppose they're both pretty small clubs and maybe this is the only way they can compete nowadays.

So, if you were manager of a team in real life, would you approach your chairman and ask for a few hundred quid a week in wages to give to a player just because you've seen his name as being released from a Premiership club? I'm sure the chairman would ask you if you've seen the player play and/or ask about what your scouts have found out about him.

But you can scout them, and i do.

At the moment i am Yzeure in the French thurd division. It is not exactly unrealistic for me to send a scout to watch Le Havre reserves play is it?

Why should i wait until the players come up on the radar?

The situation i described is not at all unrealistic, yet is banned.
