Hello, most of you won't remember me, but I started an LLM update around February time. I left this update without explaining, as I have been in Spain working (university stuff) and without an internet connection on my laptop. But I did take my FM07, and after the last update sort of broke (I really don't know why or how), i started afresh.
I didn't know where to go, and couldn't consult Frank, so I started unemployed with Brazil, Colombia and Argentina loaded. After two months of being rejected by the creme of the South American bottom leagues, I was finally accepted by the Colombian Second Division team - Academia FC.
Season 2006- Colombian 2nd Division.
What a pleasant surprise for a first team in a save, a transfer budget. OK, it was 7000 pounds, but thats better than nothing. The squad was pretty well covered for most catastrophes that FM could throw at me already, but it was a case of quantity, definately not quality. Brilliant. Scout was out to find Centre Midfielers, as they were all awful. The strikers were actually pretty decent, so I planned to score more than I conceded, set out, and in true LLM style, failed miserably.
2006- Finished 15th of 18 in the First Phase, and 14th of 18 in the Second Phase, at least I improved. Top scorer was a loanee who was there at the start , with 16 goals in 38 starts.

I didn't realise how difficult the Colombian league is to get out of, with two playoff series in the season, then a two legged final, with 1 of 18 teams getting promoted. Media predicted 12th. I released 12 pieces of deadwood to ease the finances, and spent all of my trasfer budget (18000) on making last years top scorer a permanent signing.
We won our first 5 games, and then continued steadily up until the First Phase playoffs. We lost every game and finished bottom of the group. I thought we could push in the Second Phase, but long term injuries to my best 3 strikers in the first 2 games all but killed any hopes of this. We eventually finished 13th. The Chairman seemed pleased, and offered me a new three year contract. The top scorer was a youth I promoted from midfield with 12. Mostly free-kicks.

My chairman had accepted bids of 50000 and 70000 for my two centre defenders, so this was my scout's problem to fix. He came up with a list, and I took 5 on trial. Two of these performed, and I spent 2000 buying them. The media thought I could finish in 7th this season.
An absolutely storming start saw us lead after 12 games, but 5 loses then saw us finish 4th, still in the First Phase play-offs. We performed exceptionally in the play-offs, and were through to the First Phase Final. Our first leg, away, we got a 2-2 draw in, a perfect result in my view, but a 0-3 battering at home left us needing to win the Second Phase to get out of this hell hole. My lovely chairman then decided to sell my best striker for 120000, leaving us toothless upfront. We struggled badly, and finished in 9th place, losing out on the playoffs.

I managed to arrange a friendly with Colombia's champions, which I thought would lessen the need to sell some players, however, Chairman proceeded to sell my best AMR. I hate my Chairman. The media predicted 7th again, and I was pretty confident I could deliver.
Nothing worked. Anything I did, changed or tweaked the AI just laughed at and continued thrashing me. We finished the First Phase 18th of 18, and I was fired.
I'm now on the lookout for a new job, and will try to update soon. Hope you enjoyed the update.
