I've just started out my LLM game (on FM05 for now), and I know that the player search screen is out of bounds, but what about the staff search screen? Is there an alternative way of finding staff? Just that I think I could do with an extra scout....
Also, can you use the player search screen to find loan players, or are loan players out of bounds as well?
Sorry if I'm asking things which have already been answered.....I have had a read through the stickies, but have probably missed answers to my questions...
The job centre isn't too good before FM07 though, kevhamster. For staff, using the staff search option is okay though.
Again, think what would be realistic and let that guide you. Do you think, hiring some Chinese who can't speak English while you're in the Conference North/South would be realistic? I guess not.
Yeah. It'll be British staff for the mighty Basingstoke Town!! I chose them as they're the most local team to me (as I live just down the road in Winchester).
What about loan players? Is there anyway to find them apart from the transfer screen and by searching teams for their players? I haven't found another way to find them, although again I've probably missed something really obvious!
Sorry again for all the dumb questions, and thanks to all who've answered me so far.
Pretty soon, I'll know enough to stop asking dumb questions, and be able to post how badly I've done (although I've seen that I need to have done 3 seasons first....could take a while!).
Over time, your scouts will unearth quite an amount of players. Some of them will be listed for loan, and sometimes even other players on the list of your scouts will agree to a loan deal.
If you want to, you can also use the search screen and the filters to restrict the players to only those that are offered for loan, but most zealots would find that questionable.
Thanks for your answers, you've been a massive help.
One final question, and I promise this'll be the last one for a while!
I've got the English and Scottish leagues loaded in their entirety, but no others down to memory restrictions on my PC.
I've set my scouts to do their thing around Ireland and Wales. One month later, and both have come back with nothing, yet when scouting England they came back with loads of potential players (most totally unsuitable, but I digress....).
I've set no particular paramaters....just to find ANY player. Would I have to select Ireland and Wales' leagues as playable for the scouts to find anything?
There are way more English players in the database, for sure, so it's easier for your scouts to find them.
There's the option of retaining players from countries that fit the leagues you pick (for example for the leagues you selected, it might be a good choice to retain players from England, Scotland, Wales, Ireland and Northern Ireland) but you need to know what you are doing for that feature, or you can mess up the game-balance.
Also, you chose Basingstoke as your team. Before FM07, the board did not indicate where you are permitted to send scouts to, so there is a guideline called SWYCT (Scout where you can tour).
Check out the Sticky threads about the Guidelines and also the History Q&A thread, there should be quite some answers to your questions and also to those you have not asked yet.

Thanks for the help, again!!
I did see the SWYCT guideline, so thought the rest of the UK and Ireland would be fine. Although, I'm getting no results apart from when I scout in England anyway. Don't know if that's down to the database, or my scouts being rubbish.
