Default The Chairman Who Redefines Stupidity

Luton Town in their infinite wisdom recruited the Rhyl manager to take over their club when Luton had sacked their manager mid season.

Despite Rhyl never receiving my application, I find this message sitting in my inbox...

"Ambitious Rhyl chairman Edward Murphy has offered you a three year contract on £875 p/w to take charge at Belle Vue with the promise of cash to make big-money signings.
Due to the clubs perilous financial situation, Murphy regrets there will be no transfer money available..."

Imagine what the actual interview would have been like had there been one!

McDONALD: Can I have money to make some big signings?
MURPHY: Yes.
McDONALD: How much can I have?
MURPHY: None.

It's relative, Simon. When I was managing in Wales, £0 was a big money signing.

Perhaps he meant you can have big money signings going out so you can fill the financial pit?

Hope you took the job Nobby, you could hardly turn down an offer like that. With that kind of wage you could buy your own big money signings.
