Inept in Italy FM 2007
No major bugs so far for me, so hopefully this will be a long term save game :fingerscrossed:
2006/7 Serie C2/CCassino
Took the job as manager of Cassino as they had the best name of any of the clubs (or so I thought till I played Monopoli
) Media prediction is 18th (of 18) and squad looks poor, but most do. No money to spend, so a quick scout about for free’s before the season starts brings in 5 players of no apparent quality.
My attempt to get the hang of the new game is a disaster and we start off badly, loosing all our friendlies to non league clubs convincingly, then carrying that form into the league and Serie C cup. Out shot massively and outplayed convincingly it takes us 22 games to get our 1st win. This doesn’t see our form change though and we win only 2 more all season: Pete:

2007/8 Serie C2/BFerentino
I get a new job at just promoted Ferentino, who have only 9 players, 4 in on loan. Media prediction 18th again. A bring and buy sale preseason sees 17 players come in on frees and our friendlies go like last season, leaving me fearing the worst. Our season runs pretty similar to last, consistently out classed and out scored, the highest we get in league is 14th and we spend most of season at bottom and get easily relegated with approx 37 games to go. 3rd time lucky next season hopefully. The end result is allmost the same as last season.

Serie C Cup: ****
2008/9 Serie C2/C Cervia
New season, another newly promoted club. They start with only 10 players, 5 of them loans, but they do give me 15k to spend. Media prediction of 18th, hopefully they are wrong this time. 16 players signed for a total of 6 k and 8 loaned. I only loose 1 of our 6 preseason friendlies and even manage a win in the cup, so I am optimistic as we start the league.
Our form is very stop-start, with 3 game winning streaks followed by several pastings all through season. At Christmas we aren’t bottom though, which is a 1st. Also at Christmas we manage to get our 1st parent team, when Modena agree to it. They instantly send 2 players on loan to us, and 1, a young Liberian striker helps massively towards keeping us up by scoring 6 in 10 games. We end the season with a good run of form and pull out of the playout places with 3 games to go and a last day draw sees us finish 1 point and place above the playouts. My top striker is also the leagues top goalscorer with 17. Success.

2009/10 Serie C2/C Cervia
After last season I start full of confidence, and bring in 5 players for 1k, including last seasons loan gk who was great. Slightly worried that the loan cb’s from last season wont sign permantely/return for another loan, they were very important in keeping us up, but the replacements I sign will hopefully be as good.
Our form starts off good (2nd in serie c cup group) and slowly gets worse, and as season drags on its clear we will be fighting the drop. The new defenders don’t match up to last seasons 1’s and we cant seem to really score with any regularity. Luckily the bottom team are miles behind everyone else, so we are safe from going straight down, but have to fight it out with about 6 other teams for the playout spots. A really pish turn of form at end of season sees us finish 2nd bottom and go into playouts without a win in 6.
In the playouts we face Sorrento, and they outplay us totally over both legs, and out shoot us massively. Luckily we only have 2 shots on target in each leg, but they all go in(including 1 blatantly offside \0/), so two 2-0 wins sees us stay up jammily. Next season will be a struggle without good signings.

2010/11 SerieC2/C Cervia
In come 6 players for a total of 1k as I look to improve our form on last seasons pish. After the fans slate me for not changing tactics during last season’s poor form I start the new season with a new line-up. This turns out to be a bad idea, as instead of just losing games we end up getting pasted quite often, and after 15 games I change the formation again. A win in the 1st match of this new tactic gives me hope but then the beatings continue, including 9 straight losses. I change to a 3rd tactic but it’s too little too late. We go on our best run of form, 10 points from 12, but unfortunately we are 16 points off safety with 7 left by then and get relegated with 5 games to go. Back to the drawing board.

Despite my best attempts to ‘improve’ the team I manage to loose 11 points per season. I will cry on Dave Cussacks shoulder and find a new club
