Isn't it played over end of one season and beginning of next so they should be in pre-season training after a holiday so it drops?

Similar thing also happens when it comes to international tournaments like world cup

I used to win it prob 2/3 of the time with my melb team. Just have a relatively large squad and play the ones with top conditions. Also you may even want to sign that foreign player youve been looking at for a while during the group stages as he will start at 100% when he arrives and prob remain fairly high for most of them. Even sign a few frees perhaps to fill the gaps where ur half-dead players simply cannot play. Oh and lastly hope that the draw is good to you
