Default Players going away for internationals at crucial times

I'm just about to play Chelsea in the quarter final of the Champions League and FIVE players from my starting XI are away on international duty (Aguero, Mascherano, Lulinha, Breno and Marcelo). Three of the players missing are away with their respective u20 teams! Surely they need to get their priorities straight? Or did I **** up??

Is there a way I can tell my players not to travel at such crucial times for the club? I seem to remember a "can't travel to internationals" option in earlier version of FM, but I can't fint it anywhere. I know it's too late to rescue anything from this game, but any advice might come in handy next year.

The only advice is to sign fewer South Americans and have better squad depth.

This should be fixed, because IRL you NEVER have the situation when you can't select a South American player in knockout stages of Champions league, because they are on international duty. But it is better than in FM07.

Exactly. And it makes it even worse that three playres are away on U20 duty. No way key players would be allowed to miss knock out stages in the Champions League for U20 internationals!

Oh well. At least my reserve and U18 players are getting a good run out.

How about the African championships taking key Premier Leagues players away in January?

It's not unrealistic.

Yes it is. There will never be a meaningful International game when the final stages of the Champions' League are playing. It just wouldn't happen.
