i think a gold star at such a young age would suggest that he's already got a lot of ability relative to the level your team is playing at. i think the youth team stars system was probably introduced to take into account the fact that, CA-wise, there's a lot of difference between a 15 year old (even a promising one) and a fairly useless senior player

it's still confusing.
1 gold star for a 15 year old shows that hes got a lot of ability relative to the level my team is, according to kill rock stars.
this sounds plausible, but then does that mean that a young player is being compared to other youth players AS WELL AS from a first team point of view?

i suppose they decide on gold star or silver star either on the basis of:

player is young/not young

or

player is above/below a certain PA.

if we take the first one, it can't possibly be bwecause as i've said my 15 year old has a gold star.
if we take the second one, i can't believe that the 15 year old has a PA higher than a youth player with 6 silver stars. especially considering the 15 year olds stats aren't great in the grand scheme of things. for a young chap yes. for a top flight footballer no.

White/Silver stars are used when comparing youth/young players whose abilites are far surpassed by the "senior" players in your squad.

I think a scout report should reflect a players ability relative to the LEAGUE you are playing in and not compared to your own team.

If you read the text next to them, you'll see that the silver stars only appear when comparing the player to another youth player. In any other situation, it will be gold stars.

how does the scout know when to compare with a youth player and when not to then?

as this was just a bog standard scouting mission i sent him on. he came back with a wide variety of players all ages all abilities all positions.
as some youth players have silver and other youth players have gold stars in the bog standard scouting missions i presume the scout is making a choice.

I just presumed it was silver stars followed by gold stars. Going up in order so it went 3 Silver stars, 4 silver stars, 5 silver stars, 1 gold star, 2 gold star, 3 gold star etc etc

he's one of the top keepers in the world so i'd say so.
and he's definetly much better than some 15 year old.
