This is the 4th time this has happened on my saved game. I try to load the game but it says This game cannot be loaded, I have a backup from a long time ago, but I don't want to be backing it up everytime I quit, I shouldn't have to. Is there a fix to this?

When you save the game do you overwrite the previous save?.It could be that the save is getting corrupted or something.

Personally,I always save to a seperate file and do so once or twice a session.This means I don't have to go back too far
into the game if one of them doesn't load.If the auto save function in the preferences is in FM08 (I assume it is as I haven't
played it yet),try using that.

this might have nothing to do with it but still try

if you have patch 8.0.1 reinstall it

the reason why is , on my save game evry time i was going to coach reports the game would crash back to windows any way i reinstalled the patch now it works great. like i say it prob wont work but its still worth the try

this happened to me too. it happens more often as you go on through the years. i was sickened. i had villa in 2nd in the premiership at christmas. :thdn:

Unfortunately this will amost certainly be down to some problem with your PC.

Figuring out what that problem is is very difficult though. Do all the usual stuff like disk cleanup, virus scan, disk defrag and maybe a registry repair programme if you've got one or can find a free/cheap one.

Also, never ever have a virus scan running at the same time FM is because this has been known to corrupt save files. If you've got automatic virus scans scheduled then disable them or make sure FM isn't running when they start.

It may also be worth uninstalling the game and then re-installing the game and the patch. You won't lose any of your saves or tactics or anything like that but it might help.

This happended to me about several of times. Irritating when you've played over 4 season and the game won't load grrr.....
