Defend like buggery would be my suggestion! I play short, slow and narrow, defensive with tight marking and counter attacking. This ensures we keep a tight ship and don't give away possession. If we need to get the ball up the field quicker than I may switch to marginally longer passing and a quicker flow.
I've generally come to accept playing for a draw, if you get your set pieces right then you can nick the odd goal or two from a lucky break. A good one is when in the wet to set all your attacking players to long shots, I found that keepers with an average handling rating spill shots or send them out for corners, allowing you to take advantage.
