I have been thinking about it; will a player with 20 freekick, 1 longshot, 1 finishing be able to score from outside the penalty area ?, what about composure ?.
Another question; freekicks from the side, where the taker cross the ball into the area, common sence would tell you to look for the players crossing stats right? but maybe im wrong..
Well I will try to found out which stats are most important in these sitiuations...using FMM 2.2 for FM08 and edit the attributes before the match.
Im watching all games in full lenght so this will take some time. Pirlo will take all my setpieces..yes its Ac Milan im testing with
I read recently (in Marc Vaughan's guide or the manual?) that technique is an important stat for taking free-kicks as well. It's not something I'd looked for in my free-kick takers before but it does make sense that it would have an effect.
I'd be interested to see whether this stat makes a difference in your tests.
I'm only playing in the Conference South at the moment, but my free-kick taker has very good technique for the level and mediocre stats elsewhere. He has already scored three excellent direct free-kicks in the first six games, so it seems to be paying off for me at this level.
Played 3 game so far...not meny freekicks tho, only 4 where Pirlo shoots. 2 was over the bar and 2 saved. Another thing I notice is; the freekick taker often just play a short ball to one of the other players who are close to him..very annoying
