I am about to explode here. I'm newport county playing in Blusquare South. I've gotten 5 players from the league 1 to play for me in hopes of getting promoted. I started out as expected, winning my first two games. The team seemed to disregard my tacitcs, but they won so I was kinda ignoring that. However. 14 games into the season and I'm 10th, why? because the players REFUSE blank out REFUSE to follow my tacitcs. I can change my tactic from the extreme short to the extreme long passing play and they will always, and I mean always. play their stupid backpasses and outragous crossover passes that no bluesquare player should ever attempt.
Now if that was my only problem I wouldn't be so mad, but on the problem with closing down.... No matter what I do they refuse to close down and refuse to manmark. If I want a player manmarked throughout a game. I use opp.instructions for that, but what do you know. That man ALWAYS and I mean ALWAYS scores a goal or gets the man of the match award, it's fricken ridicullus. There has been one match they did as I asked them to do, I won that match 5-0 but even after that they blank out refused to play my tacics, mark the assigned players or listen to my advice.
No longshots apparently mean, fire a longshot every other second. (I am watching the full game). Telling them NOT to run with ball and assigning "amazing" dribblers (14 dribbling) to run with ball causes the crap ones to run with the ball and the amazing ones to boot it wild...
Not only that, but the defense... oh I dunno what you put in there, but the defenders are worse than blocks, honstly. I could have 4 blocks out there instead and they'd do a MUCH better job! Tell them to direct pass, rarely run with ball, hold a defensive position with almost no creativity and have them on zonal defense makes them do the opposite, for instance... a direct pass will mean pass between eachother and back to the goalie no matter what! defensive position means run like a fool towards the goal, rarely run with ball means. run with ball until you lose it! and no creativity obviously means Do what you want!
Seriously am I just seriously bad at the tactics part (tried a million different aproaches) or did SI do something to make lower league teams ignore their manager?

Lower league team REFUSES to follow tactics Post #3
I would be fine with it if the AI had the same conditions, but no. I was sent to the sidelines due to some *ehm* angry comments and *ehm* cursing at the refs (you can do that in game now, great but dangerous) And my assistant manager seemed to do well with the closing down issue (as long as I was on the sidelines, all the other times he too messed up) And the AI sides seem to be far better at defending than my players, especially if they don't have a league to play in (Bishop Cleevdale beat me 4-2 because they acctually knew how to close down while my players were running in circles around their players hoping for lightning to strike or something..)
This is so frustrating I've been close to tossing my laptop out the window.

That is true...same outcome, you just dont have to watch it
Its such a shame too, because outside of the match engine, the game is awesome in my opinion, and yet, because they got one little thing wrong, its really ruining the game for what seems to be a lot of people.

I've managed to re-vamp my entire defense tactic and I'm now using a man-marking aproach, it helps in the fact that the opposition misses the goal and I come out of games with clean sheets, however. I can not for the life of me figure out how to score and create chances with this tactic... the main points is a man-marking tactic with no closing down. Works well in defense, but no goals... and 2-3 chances a match.(which really isn't anywhere near enough)
