It's no use having a squad full of star players without a decent way for them to play their football.

Default Is it wise to have two different formation shapes for Home and Away games?

Hey there, I certainly know that we need to have two different formations for home and away games to maximize the effectiveness of each tactic. However, I still find myself failing to perform away from home.

At the moment, I am using a variant of a 4-1-3-2 tactic at Home with good results with West Ham. I retain this shape for away games as well, except changing the team instructions to be much more defensive and dropping the D-line.

Still not working though.. so my question is should I adopt a more defensive shape for away games, maybe a 5-3-2? And would my players be able to cope between two shapes of formations flexibly?

I always keep the same shape and usually dont mess with the tactics massively. I just go more attacking at home and tend to play wider. Away I go for a slightly less attacking and narrower, usually notch the passing up to direct as well.

The only time I change shape is if I am clinging onto a result. I go from 41212 to 42211.

Seems to work, 2nd season with liverpool in feb and i'm still on for a treble.
