Well the game is fantastic at mimicing real football, and due to that, it will be near impossible to run away with the league as Leeds United this season..

But the problem for me is the players are obviously better than other teams, but its still VERY hard to win supposedly easy games!

I'm using a flat 4-4-2, the preset positions for each player, with modifications to play against opponent weaknesses, but I can't seem to win games??!?

Maybe I'm thinking the pre-set player instructions are maybe designed for more skilled players? such as man marking on the central defenders etc.. Not sure

Anyone got good experiences with Leeds in the demo? Cheers

I've got Leeds going at the minute on my first game of the full release of FM08.

I'm playing 4-1-2-2-1

Working quite well, but you need to set the DEF to defensive mentality. If I get a minute I'll post up my tactic, but I'm fine tuning it at present.

See I thought the AML AMR would be the best taccy but I wanted to utlise Kandol, Beckford, Flo AND constantine.. they're all FC's and not AM's so was a bit unsure about it...

The FM Monkey:
I was given a budget of 1M for a top-half finish. So I shipped in Gabriel Torje for the AMR role for 475k (Could probably have got him cheaper if I'd tried), and I'm playing Alan Thompson on the left.

Torre Andre Flo is playing awesome on his own. 7 goals from 10 appearances, and we're sitting 20th after 13 games. (8 wins, 2 draws, 3 losses).

Not bad eh? Also look about getting a nice solid DM, I found Edelbert Dinha on the free transfer list to be quite useful.

So ur not playing beckford kandol or constantine? I find if i have good players I really want to play them and find a tactic around them.. but it aint working in this league lol

i'm gonna try with some better teams before i have another go with leeds.

Managed to get two sent off first game and lost my opening 4 games.

back to the drawing board!

Nah I'm not, Constantine is crap on this version of FM, and I've got better than both Beckford and Kandol already. So they'll be offloaded asap.

One more thing.. def mentality for defense.. what about other players? Do you give them the preset positions without free role?

What I did was...

DL, DR, DC, DC and DM all on this setting:

Tackling: Hard
Forward Runs: Rarely
Closing Down: Often
Mentality: Defensive
Tight Marking: Yes
Marking: Man

The remainder of the team are on my preset instructions, apart from the Wingers, who have an attacking mentality, free-role and much creative freedom.

I'm surprised u have them on free role as it takes away any midfield defensive duty really as there's no position?

I'll definintely play around with all this later though
