Start the season well keeping up with the early pace-setters (special mention to York who won their first 10 games - we then inflicted not only their first defeat but also their first points dropped of the season after beating them 4-2). Then we dropped and dropped, picked up a bit, dropped then picked up again, finding consistency in not being able to get any consistency going.
The good start to the season helped to generate a higher average attendance, but a truly unremarkable season. Previous free-scoring forward turned into a three-scoring forward, and last seasons player of the season turned from midfielder/right back/left back into left back in the changing room. A Ghana-born forward picked up a couple of seasons back shows good promise though, scoring a hatful, and have 18 players whose contracts are up for renewal at the end of the season who will find themselves either unhappy or grateful depending on their attitude as they will be leaving. Fresh blood is needed (and I don't want it to be mine).
Sounds like I'm moaning but this seasons version is in my opinion the toughest yet. I have NEVER spent five seasons trying to (and coming nowhere near to) get promotion from the lowest division.
And I'm loving it!!
