I don't know exactly what the score is there Nobster, but Dumbarton left Boghead in 2000. SI have the capacity at around 5000, but Wikipedia disagrees.. Whatever the case, it seems the real Boghead is ummmm well crap IRL if it indeed still stands.

"Having played host to a crowd of almost 20,000, Boghead Park was latterly a sad sight. The ground fell into a level of disrepair and its capacity, which was around 10,000 when Dumbarton played in the Scottish Premier Division in the mid 1980s was somewhere closer to between 2,000 and 3,000 by the time of the ground's closure. This was largely due to the club not maintaining the site as they decided whether to renovate the ground or move on to pastures new.

That the board of Dumbarton Football Club chose to let the ground get into a run down state is signified by the fact that when one of the two stands that existed at Boghead Park in the mid 80s was destroyed by fire, they chose not to replace it, instead leaving the site empty.

Ambitious plans were created for the redevelopment of Boghead Park into an all seated facility with a capacity in the region of 9,000. These plans are currently held on show at the Football Museum at Hampden Park, but were never put into practice by the club who eventually opted to sell the Boghead Park site for a housing development and to move to a new purpose built facility elsewhere in the town, the Strathclyde Homes Stadium."

"An interesting piece of trivia about Boghead Park is that it was chosen by Robert Duvall as the supposed home ground of the fictional football team, Kilnockie F.C. for his film, "A Shot at Glory". Duvall allegedly chose Boghead Park because of its ramshackle nature, but ironically, the filming involved the film crew making improvements to the football ground."

Good to see they aren't called The Dumbos for no reason.

Awwwwww cmon two promotions and five play-offs (albeit one a relegation playoff) in eight seasons with a club with up until this season a capacity of 2,100 is surely a little bit more than mediocre??

Maybe not...

2025-2026 Dumbarton (Scottish Division 1)

Media Prediction - 10th

After 19 seasons, I've decided lowest/lower league management isn't for me. So to celebrate my 20th season I figured I'd stun the Scottish footballing world and go get promoted to the Scottish Premiership!!!

In the pre-season I managed to pick up a whole new back four to compliment what I believe is an excellent 24-y-o keeper. They gelled immediately, and what a difference it made! I was never lower than 3rd, I hit top spot after seven games and didn't leave there for the season. Add to this a fantastic run in the league cup (beating four teams from the Prem, three of which ended the season in the top three spots) before finally losing 1-0 to Celtic in the final, and you can safely say I was happy with the season. (The same way you can safely say Chelski are quite rich, Hitler was quite naughty, the Pope is quite religious etc...)

OK so to be honest, how the hell do a team who had to go through the relegation play-offs the previous season romp to promotion in the next? Different tactics? Nope. Different training? Nope. Apart from the defence, the only difference was a lack of simultaneous injuries, and moral was sky-high at the club due to the cup run.

Other highlight of the season were 5 players in the team of the year, one of my new central defenders winning both SD1 player of the season and signing of the season, us winning the overachievers award (no **** Sherlock!!).

I'm just going to put it down to a team totally over-achieving, and I fully expect to come crashing straight back down next season. The board are really helping out as I approach the new season, allowing me to scout anywhere on the continent, turning the club professional, expanding the stadium by another 2944 seats, and improving both the training and the youth systems!! Can't ask for more, and if we don't manage to stay up, I can safely say it won't be for the lack of trying of all associated with the club. I love it here!

As I said, I do realistically expect to come back down, but until then I'm sure as hell going to enjoy the ride!!!

Final Position - 1st P36 W19 D12 L05 F48 A25 PTS 69

2025-2026 Dumbarton (Scottish Premiership)

Media Prediction - 12th

We were crap.

Everyone expected us to finish bottom, and who were we to let everyone down again? Noone of note wanted to sign for us with our budget, until the January market where the board said they wanted signings to show everyone we meant business, and allowed me to sign some players with a good reputation as long as it didn't put the team in the red. A cracking young centre forward (who scored 7 in 14) and a rock of a central defender from Stoke (yeah well ok we'll brush over that) halted the slide, but it was way too little way too late. The only surprise of the season was that we weren't officially relegated until there were three matches to go, but that was more to do with the fact that Dundee United were (almost) as ***** as us!

Enjoyable enough in it's way though, with a record league position (obviously) and a record average attendence (again obviously). My worry about next season is that as we overachieved in our promotion season we'll just fade into obscurity, although I'm hoping that a seasons Premiership experience will have improved the relative dross I have here.

Scottish Cup - 3rd Rnd
League Cup - 2nd Rnd

Squad Average Age - 29

Fans Player Of Season - Very versatile DC/DR/MC/MR yet again.

2027-2028 Dumbarton (Scottish Division 1) / Airdrie United (Scottish Division 1)

The most disasterous season of my career so far. Sacked from one team, relegated with another! The ungrateful twats at Dumbarton sacked me after 23 games with us positioned 6th (they wanted us to bounce straight back up), so I guess I became a victim of my own moderate success. However, within the week Airdrie United (same division, but bottom) had offered me the chance to save their season. I fancied the challenge, but at the end of the day we weren't quite good another, and fell on the last day of the season. So within the space of two seasons I've gone from Premiership to Division 2. Things can only get better!!!

Media Prediction - (Dumbarton) 2nd

Position when sacked - 6th P23 W06 D10 L07 F22 A26 PTS 28 (more than in the previous complete season!)

Position of Airdire when I took over - 10th P23 W05 D06 L12 F20 A32 PTS 21

Final Position - 10th P36 W08 D09 L19 F32 A44 PTS33

Scottish Cup - 4th Rnd (With Airdrie)
League Cup - Qtr Final (With Dumbarton)
Challenge Cup - 2nd Rnd (With Dumbarton)
Average Attendance - 3432

Value of Club - £500K
Squad Average Age - 24
Players In - 8 (£85K)
Players Out - 16 (£150K)

Fans Player Of Season - Loyal fairly prolific striker

Scottish Premiership - Hearts
Scottish Cup - Celtic
League Cup - Rangers
Challenge Cup - Dunfermline

Premiership - Man Utd
FA Cup - Tottenham
League Cup - Southampton
JPT - Rushden
FA Trophy - Blackpool
Community Shield - Arsenal

Welsh Premiership - Barry
Welsh Cup - Llanelli
FAW Cup - Caernarfon
Welsh Challenge Cup - Bryn Tirion

Champions Cup - Aston Villa
EURO Cup - Man Utd
European Super Cup - Porto

European Championships - Poofland

Former team watch.
Barrow - English Conference North - 19th
Dumbarton - Scottish Division 1 - 5th

Oh BTW Liverpool got relegated from the Premiership!
