Does anybody feel that the wage structure of clubs may not be exactly real life.
Signing certain players on £25 week on part time contracts in the Conference South is ridicoulous when they are unattached. I personally think players ask for too low wages who are unatatched, once I even had a player willing to sign for me on £0 a week. I could understand a 35 yr old wanting to get a game but a 28 yr old goalkeeper on £0 a week isnt excatly real.
Top players that are at Feeder clubs are getting paid £250 a week or more. I pay a transfer for them, they normally want less then they are already getting :S
In real life at this level, players are there either because of geographic regions or money.
So I reckon players at this level of the game should be asking for more money then they are getting at Feeder league clubs.
Simply because at present moment I can sign a Northener for less wages to move down to London??? Now would that happen, the game should either say "Doesnt want to move as its too much travel", which sometimes it does or ask for more money to move (which is the better option and more real life, if the club really wanted that player).
I don't think many people play semi-pro footy for the money.
This is where reality and enjoyment cross for me. It can be hard enough to sign players at the conference regional level without being further restricted (though there is merit in it from a real life point of view) to players based within x miles of my club
Sorry, forgot to add, if it helps you on realism, imagine those coming from the other end of the country managed to get a transfer from their non-football employer to your local office.
As far as I know, this can't be properly put in a game. In part/time football, football is only #2 priority behind a job. If the guy has to change locations because of a different job, he'll move clubs. If he has to drive a lorry during a weekend, he can't play football or appear for training, and so on.
FM is - despite of its great depth - a game and not a complete real life simulation. It only includes the football aspect of life, and seriously, that aspect is difficult enough to simulate.
Adding the complexity of economics (some clubs for example lure players into joining them by promising/finding jobs for them) and personal life would increase the complexity by too far.
Just imagine the question "what amount of money is enough for a full-time contract?". It's different in every country. It's even different in different parts of a single country. In London, you'd need way more wages to have the same living standard than in a cottage in Northumberland.
But even then, that's only a minor aspect. What about people that have rather rich parents? I know enough people who don't have to care about the income. They can live of interest alone and don't have to have a job besides playing football. They wouldn't mind accepting a full-time contract for 5 quid a week if they enjoy playing there.
There are also other aspects when it comes to wages - racism. For example, in Germany, you can't pay a player of an ethnic minority enough money to go to a lower league club in East Germany. Money isn't important when you'll get beaten up regularly in town. Would it be realistic then if a crap player would demand immensely high wages just because he wants to pay a security service with the money?
Lots of other examples come to mind where the football world is not as flat as it appears to be in the game ;-)
Now being the Isthmian Head Researcher updating the info for FM 08, I know for fact that a couple of teams from the Isthmian have signed key players on £900/£800 a week, which is ridicolous and if they don't get promoted, they will go bust. Some Bloke at Chelmsford is being paid irl £900/800. Currently on FM 07 he is at Briantree and I havent looked at what he is on but my guess FM 0 has him on 50 to 150 a week.
And the stats at Feeder league for FM 08 are being greatly improved with players acting more like themselves, again on Bloke he's been at more clubs then I have hot dinners! So hence his personal side will be changed and many more players are not set default any more.
To add, really my point is that I get players asking for £25 to £85 a week who are unattached regardless if they lived next door to the stadium or lived at the tip of England. Players irl are not on that low wages at the lowest playable divisions in FM.
I was refering to him in real life. And not in FM, so LLM dont worry. I havent said he is a good player or a bad player.
I was simply using him as a real life player who is getting way too much at that level IN REAL LIFE. Nothign to do with FM. It was an example irl and not FM.
I havent said he is should be signed and his positions are wrong on FM 07 anyway. Most of the data at that level is wrong on FM 07, the problem is that most LLM don't know the level of football in real life and just play the game thinking they can win a league by signing people they have never heard of and buy good FM players thinking they most be good irl well they really aren't.
