Hi all, long time reader first time poster. I have played CM/FM manager since the start, but this is the most irritating FM game yet. I like to play 4-4-2 and have a system that has always taken my beloved Coventry City from skint Championship no hopers to the best team on the planet, but not in this version as I concede on average over two goals a game. Whatever adjustments I make nothing seems to work. The opposition seem to be able create chances at will and although I have a good goalkeeper who make several brilliant saves according to the commentry each game, some shots still seem to go 'through' him for soft looking goals. I have scouted several forums for advice to cure my defensive woes but nothing seems to work, eventualy I sucumbed to my beliefs and tried a 5-3-2 formation, which has reduced the concessions a bit and at least makes the game a bit more tolerable.
This bug needs to be looked at as I am finding the game borderline playable and you may start to lose some loyal supporters like me.
Although you shouldn't have to, giving each of your back four a short backward arrow helps them get back into position quicker - it also lets you be a little more adventurous with the defensive line.
Plus they cannot cope with single strikers- as neither seems able to work out who should mark the man.
Again we shouldn't have to, but a DM (especially with a backwards arrow) can easily neutralise a single striker. You can then push both your fullbacks up the pitch to make up the numbers in midfield.

Thats true- but I gave up with my DM with the issue where they keep losing the ball in dangerous areas, the little 360 spin they do, lose the ball routine (rather than just get rid) is very irritating.
Its so frustrating as the match engine has many great moments, sadly at the moment theyre outweighed by the flaws and Ive given up finding ways to play around the flaws.

Something you can minimise to an extent by playing about with his passing and run with the ball/forward runs instructions.
I have mine making short passes, plays through balls, but with no allowance for making forward runs or to run with the ball (regardless of how good he is with both) - add to this a minimum of creative freedom and most of his passes are given to the defence so that the ball can be passed down the wings.
He's rarely caught on the ball and has an incredible pass-rate because of it.
(3-3 with Man U, and 5-3 against Arsenal aside that's a lot of single concessions late in the game when the opposition is all long ball and desperate)
The DM losing the ball was irritating but allowing some more creative freedom and mixed passing seems to have prevented my guys from handing the ball to people any more.
