Ideally what I would want to do is have the defenders sit back until the ball is played and attack the ball rather than the player, but I'm not sure what settings would do this?
Anyone got any succesful player instructions for this? I normally go for tight marking/hard tackling/show onto weaker foot for all strikers, with tight man marking.

I am experimenting with this because Oba Martins is causing havoc in my game - impossible to defend against.

Try pushing your Defensive Line up to about 17 or 18 and hope to catch him on the offside rule.

If your defenders have pace and acceleration of less than 14 then experiment by defending deep and just show onto weaker foot.

thankfully I have Oba so I don't need to worry about him. The main ones are Rooney, Anelka etc.

I wouldn't use tight marking for fast strikers as they'll tend to leave your defenders standing. What you want is for the defender to try and stay goal side of the fast striker to limit his chances of racing clear of the defenders.

And personally I tend to stay away from man marking completely with my centre backs. I find that good strikers will pull your defenders right out of position if you're man marking them with your centre backs. So I generally just use tight, zonal marking. Except when They have particularly fast strikers. In this instance I'll ditch the tight marking for my centre backs.
