I'm an old hand at FM, but can't remember my login, so I 've started again.
Bought FM08 this morning my my spanking brand new laptop. It installs, but doesn't put any items in start menu or on the desktop. So I try to run it from it's folder and come up with some message about it being a backup disk (which it isn't, I hope) and takes me to some security website and tells me to disable DMA or something which I did, but to no avail.
Any idea what is going on?
Vista Home Premium, Duo Core 1.73, up to date graphics driver and java installed.
PS - Just installed it on my old XP PC and it works fine.
I had the same problem on running FM2008 on Windows Vista, ran the file as an administrator (right click on the exe and select 'Run as Administrator') and it ran fine.
I'm going to guess that SecureROM has a problem getting proper access to the CD drive with the new security measures in Vista... I think its a similar problem for the installer not adding shortcuts to the start menu/desktop... unless it was designed this way by SI.
To make FM permanently run as administrator - right click on fm.exe and go to properties > compatability > tick 'Run this program as administrator'. if you do it on the exe then it should filter through to any shortcuts you make.
Dammit! was really hoping this would work, but no such luck. Had the game for 2 hours now and ive just been trying to find answers to this problem, when i should be playing! So frustrating!!
Hi guys, think this happened to me with fif manager, basically if you have any questionable software i.e demon tools cd blax etc turn them off! give it a try.
To be honest, any software that ends up on your bottom right tool bar can cause that security program to say its not original, when it happened to me it took me hours to figure it out.
