O.K this is what I think the next big thing should be for the Football Manager series... The footballing world that actually evolves by this I mean is that the game should change as time passes by more than just the players aging some ideas of events that could ramdomly change trough time:
UEFA decides in 2015 to reinstall the Cup Champions Cup
UEFA decides in 2012 to return to the second Group Phase for the Champiosn League And that the UEFA cup final would be 2 legs instead of a single game
Fifa decides to reinstate Golgen Goal Rule at some point in time
MLS decides to eliminate the salary cap
Argentinian league decides to return to the old league format instead of the Winter/summer tournament format
Americans suddenly become smart and realise that football is the best game in the world so MLS TV Rights now worth a lot of money
The Sky is the limit with things that coudl evolve trough time.... lets say Premier Division in 2020 decides to expand to 2 additional teams and you get media comment options
The More the Merrier
My players can barely handle the amount of games they currently have to play by season
We dominate the league and that´s not going to change by adding 2 teams
Wht do u think?

yeh i definitely would back that idea... would certainly make it alot more interesting and would mean that as a manager our horizons may broaden... as you were saying with the MLS, if thats where the money is at say 10-15 years down the line then thats where I may want to move for that reason (to build up one of the best teams in the world, for example, something that is near impossible to do with an MLS team on FM08.)... would like to hear an argument against this though...

I suppose the main argument against it is the sense of "realism".
I agree that in the future these things may happen, but for the sake of realism I think SI wouldn't implement such things because it's all speculation.
Plus...new features/competitions/leagues is why they make a new game the following season. Need a 'pull' to make people buy the new game.
But they're some good ideas in my opinion.

Not many folks here will know of Grand Prix Manager 2, whereby at the end of seasons the FIA in the game would introduce new rules (ie turbo's, limitations on technology)
On one hand, this made the game wonderfully variable, so you could be uncompetitive one year, then on the money the next, however, sometimes you just felt like you were on a roundabout, you could never sit down and settle in.
Now, I'll you to consider which of those two options are the pro and the con, because from my experiance people have different views.
I like the idea of being challenged later in a career game, but would I just sit there thinking "this isnt very real"...
Hmm, undecided, but I would like the option to enable this perhaps?

Yes this idea is great. After a few seasons sometimes the game gets kind of repetitive and maybe something like this would let you keep on going with new things happening.

The idea is not to predict the future, the idea is for things to be able to change as the game advances based on chance for example MLS may have 5% chance of becoming the number 1 league in the world, but there´s a75% chance the World Club Championship gets expanded to 12 teams and gets a better TV deal)
