I know I'm going to get angry replies saying 'read the forums properly' and all that, well fair enough, maybe I have missed something, but I have traipsed through the editors hideaway for some time and not found anything that has helped

Basically I have tried to download this

among other files that I believe are save game editors. But everytime I downloaded it, when I opened the file it just said :

To open theis file windows needs to know what program created it, go online and look the program up or select manually from a list.

It seems that the file becomes 'archive' whatever that means

I'm now very confused as to where I am meant to download save game editors into, and also what the difference is between an FM moderator, which I have seen people post about, and an in game editor.

I could really do with some help

It seems you need win rar to unzip it, it's just another more compressed file type than win zip. By the way that save game editor you've downloaded is for FM06

Oh right.

Well anyway there was a file I downloaded from FM Underground and everyone was putting comments like 'this is great' but when I dowloaded it it just looked like the hall of fame does when you try and open that out of FM. Just saying 'select program from a list' and I really don't understand it.

Right well I can't find the underground one but

is another I tried to download and if you could just tell me exactly how to download it properly then that would be great. And also if it is indeed a save game editor that worked for the original FM 2007 without any patches.

Ok, this is a linke to the FM Underground site - Save Game Editor this one supports 7.0.1, again you will need win rar. And if you intend to use the one you have put a link to you will need to download Win Rar to unzip it.

Okay thanks that's really helpful, but could you tell me how to get win rar and what it is?

Its a compression software, makes files smaller to make downloading quicker. If you download a lot for FM, like graphic packs, a lot of them will also need this

Cheers but it seems you have to pay, it says 'buy winrar'. So will I be unable to download a save game editor without paying? Or have I misunderstood the info on the winrar page?

It will still work. Like a trial or something to that effect, but most versions are free
