I have just bought the game and am playing as man utd (obviously). They clearly start with two of the best strikers in the game, but im struggling to find how i would get the best out of them?

On previous FM's i like to use a big target man, playing balls down flanks, using full backs and AMR's to cross often to head. This method would clearly not work with 2 small strikers, who are very skillful.

My questions are:
how would it be best to play? should i even use a target man but with balls to feet/run onto balls?

And how should i play with my wingers? cross often? have ronaldo and nani cutting in and shooting? passing short and through balls?

Any help would be great because i really want to get a good tactic started, but just cannot get it right with these two,

I play them both as AMC behind berbatov who ive just signed.

10 wins in a row including a 3-0 win against chelsea in the community shield, seems to work for me.

Rooney is the better target man of those two since he is stronger and can pass the ball better and has better team work.

Tevez:
Passing: Short
Forward Runs: Often
Run With Ball: Often
Trough Balls: Rarely
Cross Balls: Rarely
Long Shots: Rarely

Rooney:
Passing: Short
Forward Runs: Rarely
Run With Ball: Often
Throgh Balls: Often
Cross Balls: Rarely
Long Shots: Mixed
And enable the "Hold Up Ball"

This should work.... They would complement each other and Rooney would be the man who would pick up the ball...

Try it and let me know how it goes....

I like to have one of them as AMC with an f-arrow and maybe sometimes swap positions if I want some variety. About the same instructions as JarJar except the AM has passing slightly more mixed, Rooney long shots often if he is AM and no need for holding up usually.

Gary Neville - If you play berbatov lone striker how d u set this up? is he a target man, holding up ball? and do you have roonet and tevez with farrows to play off him?

I have also signed Amauri as he looks like a bigger player, if i play more direct? Do you think he could work as a lone striker with tevez and rooney behind? Rooney is currently injured so amauri has been my targetman, and done okay but nothig special. Any ideas or experience of playing with Amauri would be more than welcome to share.

Jar Jar - Thanks alot for info. One quick question. I like to play down flanks with Ronaldo and Nani. For Your instructions, how should i use them, crossing alot? Through Balls alot? To Head or feet? My only real successful experiences come in past FM is crossing to head, so any help with with playing to rooney or tevez or even Amauri feet would be greatly appreciated.

Tahnks everyone, will keep u informed of my season. Currently top with 5 wins in league including liverpool away, beat chelsea in charity shield and roma away in champ cup. Not doing bad but sometimes it jus doesnt seem convinving. Great everyone

Short passing and slow tempo is a must.
Playing wide is good if you can afford to, closing-down bug and all.

Im using flora2 tactic, bought Owen for 10m and used rooney on the left as an att mid. Tevez is the creative fc and owen banging them in as sc!

can you get them to gel, because i have tried to get Rooney & Tevez to gel and my front 2 are not scoring any goals, jut my midfielder is scoring all the goals

OK, i have rooney and tevez up front and set them as jar jar has said and i think im starting to get sumwhere. Ronney got 4 goals n 5 assists in 8 games, with tevez 9 goals in 12, which i think is a goo tally. And i haven't lost a game so far, winning i think 17 of 19.Will keep updating.
