Playing as Vauxhall my whole team fail to close down and both teams (me and opposition) seem to score at least 2 goals a game each from long shots (which may be down to closing down as have more space - but this way way to accurate!!).

How have you all managed to cope with this? As the closing down slider, mentality, tackling intensity seem not to affect it.

buddy I have not experienced any unusual scoring games ... they finished as they finish most of the time IRL

For people who arent experiencing the closing down /long shot problems, are all your players condition high? As mine seem to always be below 90 when I start a game and 70 at the most at half time, even when I turn closing down and fwd runs off

There is a closing down bug. If you watch on the match engine players do not close down properly (it seems they require tight marking in addition to CD to CD properly). A lot of people seem to have wittingly and unwittingly taken advantage of it but I and presumebly Sephiroth (and others) have struggled with it. Wwfan has said he will not write anything of note untill this is fixed in the patch (it may be interesting to see how many people have very different fortunes after the patch, for better and worse).

I haven't experienced a long shot bug. I do have problems taking chances though and the CD problems (I liked to close down heavily in 07) mean the opposition seems to get a lot.

And I also have issues with condition - they often seem freakishly low for me (in the range Sephiroth describes).

I don't know how to combat the CD problem yet and am waiting for the patch.

moggydave, about the condition...what team are you using? Because stamina, physio coaches and training are very important in maintaining condition. For example, i play Dinamo Bucharest from Romania, and in pre-season I played a lot of friendlies, I got my players up to match fit and then at half time during a match, I restart with around 80%. For the next game (3-7 days) they are match fit. This is also happening when I play in Champions League. After a tough game with Liverpool in the group stage, I rested my midfielder that had to mark Steven Gerrard... but that was it.

Yeah i've decided not to play 08 until the patch is released. Becoming frustrated with it so i'm reverting back to 07 (a game i understand) until it's released.

Players condition has sorted itself out now after 6ish games and morale/results have improved.

Asmodeus mentioned setting opposition instructions to always close down etc. I will try this and see if it works.

Closing down isnt entirely a problem now, just the game will be v hard if we cant sort it. Off to try the opposition instructions. Fingers crossed.

I haven't actually used opposition instructions in '08 so I think you have me confused with someone else there.


As enterprise said, I'm going to stop the problems with the patch.

Just check [X] Tight marking box.
It works great on my wingbacks and def-mids.
