Is it just me or have wingers become almost entirely defunct in FM08? I've found that my wingers are pretty much entirely ineffective in comparison to FM07 where they were instrumental to me.

I've also noticed that the vast majority of the tactics people have been having success with on here are all narrow formations using no wingers.

Perhaps it's just me but I'm strugging to find a tactic that's consistent or even half decent. I've usually done pretty well with tactics on previous incarnations but I've drawn a blank on FM08.

So yeah, anyone had any success with wingers or is a narrow tactic the key to success and should I just look to build my team around this?

I've found wingers to be quite useful in FM08, as when I'm playing against an opponent that uses thw two AM's with side arrows, I move my fullbacks and wingers from the standard 442 position to the wingback/winger positions. So far it always worked.
And even when playing in the normal 442 with forward arrows on the side midfielders (in my case Nedved and Camoranesi, both AM's), they are instrumental to my game. Almost all actions start from them.
