Tactics & Training Tips

It's no use having a squad full of star players without a decent way for them to play their football.

Default My strategy for individual instructions

Im still currently testing my formula for individual instructions. Currently in 2nd season managing man utd.

But I need to see whether it works with the other teams. Preferably the lower league team.

First the mentality slider.
------------------------------

I set this up using the technical attributes of the player in question. Ok, i tally up the total of a player's technical attributes and divide it by 14 since there are 14 technical atttributes in total. This will give you the average points. Use this point as the mentality points. Defenders for example, usually dont have more than an average of 10-12 points in their technical abilities. Anything more than than that, the players is versatile meaning that he can play other positions further up.

Creative freedom slider
------------------------
This is one i get from the mental attributes. The same like above, u tally the total and divide by 14 to get the average. Put this point in creative freedom. It may scare u too see high mental attributes, but dont worry, since their mentality are set, they wont move out of position too much and still keeping shape. But with the creative freedom will give them more options on how to attack the ball.

Passing style
--------------
Set this as same as the mentality. Depending on your team, if majority of the players have more than 10 points, in passing average, play a slow tempo game with a wide width on short pitch.

Closing down
-------------
Tally up the pyhsical attributes and divide by 8. Set the point on closing down. Why? Since u are forcing your players to close down and this will tire them out fast. So finding out the limit of their physical attributes can help you on this part.

The rest of the instructions are more or less to you preferences. Tell me how it goes in your game. Have fun!

I'd personally find it sad if this theory works and I doubt it will.

My only problem with these sort of theories is that "hidden attributes" will unbalance that tactic as such. What i mean by this lets chose closing down as a player specific instructions, you can more less see whether he is capable of closing down for majority of the game by looking at players stats however hidden stat such as dirtiness will mean the player in question is more likely to concede fouls.

And im going to stand by this unless someone can prove me wrong, by showing proof of prolonged success.

It does seem to work ok at the moment. The yellow card can be mitigated if you put your "dirty" player on easy tackling. You can find out whether your player is the type of person who dives into tackles by looking at the position section of their profile.

It doesnt hurt to try. But it is a lot of work to do...and i assure you will have to watch the 2d match engine to see the difference.

The average points tally at least gives you and indicator of how much a player's mentality can go. If the average piont is 10, that means the player has a maximum 10 mentality. Cannot be more than that. Less yes.

I was actually surprised myself, Rio Ferdinand in my game has an average technical ability of 10 and mental average of 14. I used mentality 10 and creative freedom 14, with CD of 16. He still man mark his man, and also CD any dangerous ball coming in. Not bad at all. Once in a while he get out of position but its not that bad.

Again let me stress that its just the basic guidline tweak. You still need to adjust width and tempo based on these settings. It can also help you decide what type of player you want to play for that particular match.
