With Valdes and when i bought Cech i saw that their composure & concentration is droping. My training for GK is : Strenght & aerobic : high goalkeeping : Very high tactics & ball controll high set pieces : medium. I have no defending training for my GK. Do i have to have defending, i would think that composure & concentration is very important for a GK.
If you want to improve an attribute, you should include it in training, so, yes, your GK's should train defending to improve or maintain composure & concentratiom.
Training Concentration requires Defending, while Composure requires Shooting. So if you want them to maintain their stats in each category, you'll probably need to give them a certain amount of training in each category. I've found that somewhere a couple notches below "Medium" intensity on both works well for maintaining those stats. Anything more will also lead to more frequent increases in useless (yet still PA-consuming) stats like Off-the-ball, Creativity, etc.
Dont worry about your GK concentration or composure , its not needed in fm08.
You can leave hes training on low workrate in both defending and shooting.
..Yes meny top keeper in fm have high values in both stats - it means nothing, and the researchers should know about it..but doesnt. Those stats are not what you think they ..like in realife concentration or composure are mental stats , but in FM concentration is linked to marking and composure with finishing.
In goalkeepers, Concentration is linked with their ability to stop long-shots. A goalkeeper with poor Conctration will allow more long-shots than one with good Concentration, all other attributes being equal. A goalkeeper with poor Concentration will fail to follow the game as intently if the play is further away from him, and will therefore have less time to react to long shots.
Furthermore, Composure is linked with a general ability not to do stupid things, in all players. A defender with high composure won't kick a ball behind for a corner when he has better options and no one around him. In goalkeepers, I've noticed that a GK with low composure will be prone to falling apart when he allows a couple of goals in. If my starting keeper lets in two goals, I know I'm headed for a 4-4 draw, if I'm lucky, because he'll fall apart.
Beleave what you want
All I can say is Dida had a wonderfull season and we won SerieA with 82 goals and conceded 8. He got 9 concentration 10 composure.
