I'll keep it simple: Who's had experience with this keeper? I'm going into season 3 now with Arsenal and in need of a quality GK to take over from Lehmann, and to potentially rotate with Fabianski.
Ben Foster caught my eye: Young (26), British, wonderful GK attributes... Only drawback is Man Utd will only settle for £14m up front with another £5m after 12 months.
Is he as good as he looks? As I said, his GK stats look great, but his mental/physical are pretty weak and I've got a bad feeling he might be slightly injury prone..
I would go for Akinfeev, but he chose Everton over me (don't know), and Ustari has recently signed with Milan. As far as it comes to young GK's who are reasonably priced and ready for top-flight first team action, that's all I could find.
he is good but i just dun think he is worth 19m.. try looking for some regens? I am not sure though cos i play for west ham and is already blessed with a very good keeper in Robert Green and have quite a youngster in Wang Dalei and Marek Stech. Could take a look at them too..
I took over Man u in 2010 after Fergie retired and I left my post at England (After winning Euro 08, the Confederations Cup and losing finalists in the World Cup) He was number 1 with that German (Ziegler?) as backup and Akinfee's contract was up in Dec so I figured Foster would provide good back up until then. He had about 16 clean sheets in about 25 games up until Dec 15th when Akinfee arrived. The Russian lad injures himself for 4 months and Foster continued to play for the whole season obtaining approximately 29 clean sheets in total. In my experience he was simply top notch and would recommend him but not for £19m. £12-15 maybe.
I'm in my second season with Nottingham Forest, i was chasing Foster on loan for ages. Utd never played him and he was put on the transfer list this season (2nd season) for 220k! when he was worth over 5 mil he wouldn’t come to me though as he was waiting till the end of the season to decide but then Chelsea came in and bought him for 220k so he's sitting in their reserves now
So firstly Utd sell him to their main rivals for hardly anything (which i very much doubt would ever happen) then he goes to them and won't play any football which is why he wanted to leave Utd in the first place! FM can be very frustrating :p
