Has anybody ever had a decent academy that can produce one or 2 starting players like in a decade?....or do i constantly have to nick other peoples younsters who eventually get fed up bcos they are not local boys!

i am Liverpool and cant upgrade my facilities and i am just fed up of never getting anybody decent through the youth set up

I'm playing as Arsenal and I got one kid in my second season. He looks amazing. A playmaker DM (somewhat like Pirlo). Two seasons later, he's coming along pretty well. Only 17 so will probably think about sending him on loan etc now. But havent had my new intake of youngsters in season 4 though. Hoping I'd get someone.

Anyway, the odds of you landing a great prospect are very small tbh. You should get one every once in a while, but not too often. In my game, none of the bigger teams have got too many good prospects. Besides me, only Chelsea had one I think. Not even Man utd and Liverpool. So yes, you'll have to nick them off other clubs until you do get one of your own!

Yea jack hobbs is great, and if you don't have a good youth side then do like the real teams do. Buy a few promising youngsters and at 15/16. I send my scouts out every year when the youth players come out. Then I sign 3 or 4 of them that they rate well or that look good to me.

I think he's talking no good regens being drafted into the Liverpool youth academy not the ones already there...

have a look at socheaux in the french ligue one, in second season they produced two marvellous regens

ive only had 1 intake of youth players but i had 4 prem devision prospects and 2 quality player prospects in it. so im guessing its all random?

when i was inter milan i had at least 2 promising regens in 3 seasons didnt get far enuff to see how great they would have turned out but my ass man told me to watch them both for the future

i've had a decent CB as Chelsea in 08.
And in the many, many hours and games i played in 07 i had one player who turned out to be one of the best players in the game but out of the hundreds I saw this is a very small amount.

If we look at Liverpool's current first team how many of those regulars come directly from their academy... Stevie G and Carra are the only ones I can think of off the top o my head, i may be wrong, but it won't be more than a few. It's the same across many top teams in Europe. Obviously there are exceptions like ManU in the 90's Giggs, Beckham, Scholes etc but still they bought players in.

You seem to expect to much from your acacdemy, i don't think you can expect them to create a team of prem players each time you get a batch. IMO the situation in FM is pretty close to real life cept for Arsenal who seem to have some kinda Superhuman Factory or sumthin.
