if a referee lives in london and a team in london plays the referee is ot allowed to ref as he might give an advantage to the london.so a team like welling or havant and w cud end up have a referee alway uptop for somewhere like scotland.

IRL, referees are regional and a London referee would referee a London game (even if London team vs. south coast team). No non league game I have ever been to (and I have been to many) have ever witnessed a Scotish referee officiate in a Conference South/North, feeder league game. I was wondering if people noticed where the referees come from etc in FM 2007.

To be honest, I don't really pay any attention to the referee, not even his name. I'm not bothered that the info is their, as it could be an added parameter to take into account, but his location seems irrelevant, unless of course SI are planning on making refs biased.

The referee's location is important as realism (as realistic as...etc) is the driving force behind most LLM games.

I know I heard a conversation between committe members of my team and our opponents on Wednesday night which went along the lines of "That ref seems to know all of your players, does he referee up here a lot?", "He comes from Berwick Upon Tweed so it makes sense that he refs a lot in this area."

The ref was fair, btw, even though we lost 2-1

Sorry Ian, I still fail to see any need for the refs to have a location. The only thig close is perhaps their nationality, with refs from different countries behaving slightly differently.

If SI are going to add factors to the way a match is refereed depending on where the referee lives, then fair enough, but otherwise it's just cosmetic.

We want FM to be as realistic as possible, and that should include referee location.

I didn't know the tits had home towns in the game.

Ref for the match that has just started on my game, Eastleigh vs Havant, is from Gillingham, so that's good enough for me.

Apart from the fact that the arse was referee for on of our games last season, was a right incompetent, pompous, jumped up little *****.

:o Never knew this was already in, going to check out the referee for my next couple of matches. Not that it'll mean much, geography is not my strong point, especially geography of Poofland.

And it may be more realistic, and a nice touch Ian, but does it have any gameplay value, does it affect anything?

And can I ignore it?
