Would this Community benefit from being a Microcosm?
My personal feelings are that it would. Nothing essential to LLManagement in the rules would change per se.
Notwithstanding the Direct Support from SI for this Forum, it is obvious to me that this Forum more than any other on this site has established itself with a playing ethos second to none and it is fiercely defended by those that stick around.
The downside to that as I see it is that 'Trolls' come in just to wind you up by saying Billy-No-Mates Scored 73 goals in his first match and I bought him for a stick of sugar candy. This upsets the community and breeds a 'defence' minded attitude whereby you start to suspect everyone is 'fake.'
Or, new players come in and either in their haste or ignorance, they ask a question with good intentions, only to be told in no uncertain terms that they are making a mistake. They leave never to return, which is no good for any community if they were truly genuine in the first place. After all, you do want the community to grow, don't you?
Sure, you can warn the Trolls but they do come back. One reason I stopped coming near the place a few years ago. You can't however get the young potential candidate to come into the community and create an all round supportive and helpful atmosphere that you may get in a 'youth team' for example in and Football Club. There is no Nurture in it, just bad Nature.
Question for Mods; can you ban a person from just one Forum or is a ban universal?
If it is universal then a microcosm is irrelevant. If you can selectively ban from just this Forum then it is beneficial to those members that are serious about LLM to have a microcosm.
The 'door' could be locked and only opened after some form of vetting, like an e-mail exchange between Candidate and Moderator. Should the Candidate gain admittance and not comply, after a warning or two they could be booted. They can wander round the wilderness that is full of game hints and editors and false help.
But you employ booting already, don't you? So why should this be different. Well, maybe some people are just to lazy to apply to be part of a society with-in the one they already joined. This is to LLm's advantage, as they may not bother to apply in the first place.
Other benefits could include but not be limited to, asking question, if like me, you have either just bough the game or been away for a while, because most people get a 'feel good' buzz when they help someone, as dose the poor sap struggling to find the answer to a question that is not 'tipping' or otherwise normally directed to another Forum, like the 'GQ Forum.'
On the subject of GQ, every time 'you' mention that I expect MI5 or MI6 to have the answer and I can't figure out why GCHQ are involved with SI...
I am sure other benefits are possible all it needs is more community spirit and the LLM Forum may just become the moral conscience for even more FMxxxx players.
Thanks,
K.

I read it, but agree with Kriss that it doesn't really need changing, or some form of application/acceptance.
When people post an inappropriate question they are generally given a reasonable answer and pointed in the correct direction at first, it the persisit or start to argue, that is the point it degenerates.
Obvious and blatant windups are from my experience so far quite rare. The real wind ups come from other forum members telling someone that they should post their question in the LLM forum, knowing full well that it will not be answered.
As for putting off new people, well I suppose that may happen, but the majority who come and join will be welcomed. LLM is not for everyone, and since joining myself, I've seen quite a few others join, not all of them stay sadly, but there does still seem to be a continual arrival of new members.
Plus, once you do get a plurk on the windup it's a great chance for some potbooting.

This forum is also very useful in vetting all the members so we can decide who to invite into our secret forum. There we discuss tactics, training and players so that we can all take out teams from the lowest leagues to the highest heights.
