Default a new LLM

hi all,
i have always enjoyed playing the lower leagues although until i discovered this forum some of the scouting rules and such had never occured to me. Im really interested in giving it a go - but i have a few questions.

firstly is "acceptable" to use the player search screen to find transfer and loan listed players.

secondly i always play as leyton orient - is this a big no-no

also any advice on how to use the scouts would be appreciated as i dont have alot of experience with them.

thanks alot

Hi,

Any team in a league higher from the lowest playable league is not a LlaMa team. If you read rules first, you will find answers to lots of questions.

An advice for yousing your scouts from me is; make sure they are not sitting in a pub drinking beer.

The Search Screen.

Some LLaMa’s use the search screen to shortlist players in their area and then send off their scouts to find out how good a player he really is. Other more zealous LLaMas avoid this screen entirely letting their scout do the job for which he was hired ie: finding players. Signing “known” players is a big no no. Known players are ones that are known to you through outside influences, or have been signed and performed well for you in previous games of CM. Regardless of what you tendency is with the Search Screen, no player should ever be signed unless he is first given the once over by one of your scouts.

The Transfer Screen.

Stricter LLaMas would never attempt to sign players purely based on the fact they appear as freed in the screen that lists all transfers Worldwide as such a list does not exist in real life. It’s possible to find out such information in the Press, online, etc., but a real life manager doesn’t have access to a transfer screen.

Less scrupulous LLaMas use the screen by identifying freed players and sending their scouts to watch them, signing them or otherwise based on the scouts’ recommendations.
Well, I am not using it. (Be carefull with spelling and capitals)

I *think* that with the improved scouting (well, theoretically improved, anyway) in FM2007 that rule is out of date and the Player Search screen is now anathema and foul heresy. Happy to be corrected, though.

can you send your scout to look someone over - or does the scout have to uncover them?

You can send your scout to look someone over provided you have a realistic reason for knowing about him.
Defining realistic in this case is a little more difficult but common sense should guide you.

Other than players that your scout(s) discover on their own players that are linked to you in them media or play against you would be fair game (in my humble opinion) - off course use your scout(s) to confirm their ability or more likely lack there of. The search screen is definately off limits as it doesn't really exist IRL.
