Er, hi. I'm a first time poster to this area, but a farily long time lurker (that's the right word I think). Anyway, I started a LLM game, and thought it would be fun to keep a track of it. So here it goes.
I'm playing as Fiaes in Portugal, with Holland, Belgium and France also selected.
Two signings at the start of the season, a good GK, and a young AM/F LC with a lot of promise. We were 50/1 to win every match we played, but after a difficult start, we pulled out of the relegation by halfway through the season. The addition of a experienced DM meant we never looked back. Fans favourite was a young DC, although the GK was my hero.
At the end, I released any u18/reserve player that didn't cut down our losses, but we still reverted to semi-pro status.
After becoming semi-pro, and the board addressing me with their financial worries, I panicked and let my star GK leave, halving my wage bill. A big mistake, as the replacement I signed was useless, and we conceded goals for fun. A late push managed to pull us out of the relegation zone, clinching safety with a game to go.
Getting to the 5th round of the cup saw us destroyed by Primeira Liga Naval, and make our only monthly profit ever. Only a small profit though, apparantly Portugese fans think that cups suck arse. Main ST won player of the year.
Another year, another goalkeeper. This one sucked too. We were doing well halfway through the season, but a huge slump saw us drop to last and relegation, followed quickly by my resignation. ST got fans favourite again.
This led us to newly promoted...
KSV Sottegem (Zottegem?) of Belgium 2009/10 Belgian Third Division A - 8th
P30 W12 D7 L11 F40 A40 Pts43
Belgian Cup: 4th round
Players In: 9 (0k) + 3 loans
Players Out: 0 (0k)
11 playing staff, no backroom staff, but a comparably large fanbase to the rest of the league, and making a monthly profit were good signs.
Key signings were a beanpole striker and a loanee to partner him. But the Belgian 3rd division is weird with it's 3 phases. In the end the season was quite avarage, although a lot better than the board was expecting. In november I was offered a 2 year extension, which I accepted. Beanpole bagged 13 in 30, and won the Div 3 A player of the year. Yay for him.
About the Zottegem thing: Zottegem is the name of the town, but the official name of the cub is indeed Sottegem. I think it has something to do with the age of the club, I think the name of the town used to be Sottegem several decades ago.

Also, what's the view on signing players from previous clubs? I can't scout them, but I should really know how good they are.
You said it. Sign 'em up. You already know exactly how good/bad they are. Good luck getting them to move to Belgium though
