Default Worksop Town - My FM Saviour

I've toyed around with FM for a while. I've been reading everyone's stories since Dafuge's challenge took my interest. I did quite well in it considering my usual game length in the lower reaches of english football. I got into the conference national - but i was Gateshead - and i felt this wasn't very challenging. They had a big budget, big reputation and a big fan base. So, I started a new game.

Worksop Town

I have had lots of saves following the rules of LLM but never thought to post my progress for everyone else to evaluate. I'm currently in my second season, but here is my first seasons progress.

2006/07 - Conference North

Media Prediction - 18th

Board - Battle bravely against relegation

Fans - Battle bravely against relegation

I started the season with a below average side. I had an ass. man in place, as well as scout and a fitness coach ! This I thought was a bit of a luxury but I had no money whatsoever, already in the red and i couldnt afford to terminate his contract early. I set my coach the unenviable task of unearthing me some new gems, He'd been at it no more than four days when a championship side came in for his services. I was paying him £20 a week, part time. He signed for £300 p/w at his new place. I got 5k compensation and 1.7k was made available for transfers. Awesome - I thought. I then went and placed an advert for a new scout, no applicants for two weeks. I couldn't look at one single player until the first applicant was offered £20 p/w and he snapped my hand off. I brought in a total of 9 players, but only 5 were for the first team. the rest were youngsters on £50p/w.

Long winded for first post i know, they won't all be this long i promise !

I signed a freebie striker who had limited finishing but great pace and composure. He was scottish and only just turned 19. Result.

The season went well. My average attendance was over 900, and i got to the 4th round qualifying of F.A cup. I was in the black money wise. I was around the play-offs all season even reaching the dizzy heights of 3rd for a week or two, but i finished a pleasing 11th. My season was fulfilled when i signed a 1yr extension and another scout towards the end of the season.

Review

Finished - 11th of 24.

F.A Cup - 4th round qualifying

F.A trophy - 1st round.

Fans POTY - Scottish 19yo Striker (13 goals)

Just seen this....

Your Coach was given the task of finding new players?

What did your Scout do? Sit on his arse all season and eat biscuits?
