Hello everyone
As the title suggests I am indeed new to the game (WWSM 2007) and need suggestions on a good lower league team to start with. I am an uninformed American (new to football) who will be using the English leagues down to Conference North/South.
Thanks
Hi Bruce, just to let you know this forum is not just about managaging a lower league team. We play FM according to certain self imposed guidelines. Have a read of the header to find out more.
Being new to the game, you might want to try out one of the bigger teams to get the hang of it before trying a Conference North/South team. LLM is tricky, usually mind bogglingly difficult and can be unrewarding at times (therein lies the reality!).
Anyway, welcome aboard and good luck in wherever you end up. Trust in Frank.
To keep it LLM however, it might be a better idea to start off in a country where the lowest playable league doesn't have relegation spots (for example The Netherlands). If you play with a team that doesn't have big expectations you will be able to get the hang of the game in a LLM way.

How does that keep it LLM? It makes no difference whatsoever.
I meant that he could then start out at a lower league team building a career. Instead of Tim Madisun suggesting starting off outside the lower leagues with a bigger team which would be non-LLM to start with.
To be fair I don't see why you say that it doesn't make a difference to either start with a Premiership team to get the hang of the game (which isn't really LLM, is it?) or to start with a team in, for example, The Netherlands which doesn't have relegation spots so a first season whilst getting to grips with FM doesn't make you lose your job causing you to start over at yet another team. However... After just typing this I see it doesn't make a difference because you could just apply at another team... :o With a year's experience.
However, I think it is still better to never start with a big team to get to learn the game. You should just start at the bottom.
