Ok so lets use a couple of examples i've come across already. First;
I need a GK, i have no scout, so by my reckoning i would be able to use the player search to find people of an appropriate nationality and invite them for a Trail for assessment. That seems reasonable to me.
Second;
Given a reasonable amount of time has passed with no luck finding a scout, e.g 3/4 or a full season, using the staff search to find a low or non reputation scout would be acceptable. But i would like a scout that could tell a player from the donkey, so i want to look at his attributes? But i guess realistically you wouldn't know those details.
Forgive all the questions, but i don't want to have a save that i provide updates for, if i'm just gonna get owned because of a mistake.
Cheers for the help btw.

| Not to me, but then again I would not crucify you for it. Quote:

| If you have a choice, try for the one with the best stats. I may be a LLaMa but I'm not masochistic.

I thought most LLaMa's like to punish themselves!?
Ok i see your resoning, when you get down to these details, it ain't overly important unless you go crazy.
So in my first example what would you do? Wait until the 2nd situation occured, gain a scout that way and then send him off to hunt for Keepers?

I think maybe you should sign one of your own grey players instead of using the player search screen.
I would say that using staff search is only "admitted" when you actually have no scout at all and nobody applies.
This is only the way I would play it though.

I hope his helps your morale dilemma
On the first point ref finding a specific type of player it depends on the circumstances, in the first instance if it is the start of a career & for some reason you have no GK (inc reserves & youth) then I could accept the use of player search to find a likely free agent to be trialled, if however your are mid-season or well into a career I would expect you to use your knowledge of the game world to find a player in essence only look at keepers you have come across &/or have short listed.
On the second point I am concerned you do not have a scout so far into your game, are you being to choosy on who you employ or simply looking for ways around LLM ethics. Remember at the lower leagues scouts rarely have high attributes in judging CA & PA. So long as you are playing FM2007 you MUST only employ staff found via the job centre as the system works perfectly well, plenty of scouts will apply & as for standards these will get better as you climb the leagues.
I'm afraid LLM is all about signing a few diamonds & some fools gold.

Firstly, point taken about the GK thing. I do have keepers and thats fine. I need a better one, but in the situation i'm in i should be looking at keepers i've played against maybe rather than the player search.
For the scout thing, i'll tell you the situation as it has happened. I think what i'll probably do is use this save a trial one anyway, just to make sure i have the 'ethics' down.
I started as Rynninge IK and straight away i looked at my backroom staff. I had one scout who had 1 for both judging attributes, so i thought 'That really is bad, i might as well get rid and advertise a job', because i thought i might get some one that even has a few points in each. So i did and i have literally had NO applicants. None at all. I'm not trying to look for a way around the ethics. I've just not had anyone that i could employ. Plus as i have no money to pay for compensation, so if i did have an applicant he would have to be unattached. Do you see my problem?
But i guess i know now. I should have kept the first scout, however bad. I just wondered if anyone else had come across the same situation or not, and like i said, i'd like to try and get LLM right first time.

I wish people knew their morale from their morals
Look at the training overview of the guys you have on trial. You'll get a sentence or two from each of your coaches and assman.

| Damn it, spellcheck is all well & good but it doesn't compensate for general stupidity.
As for your problem Deeman you really need to sack your recruitment agency, they're obviously not very good.
In this situation using the staff search would be a reasonable short term solution to finding a scout. If I found myself in the same position I would only narrow the search to exclude unrealistic targets & restrict it to staff based in the country &/or neighbouring countries you are based in.
