Bought the game when it came out and was having ALL the problems others had and more besides!
Had a bit of luck with the Beta patch but when the 8.01 patch came out I was having a nightmare, my players couldn't score, too many offside goals, defenders doing impressions of Bambi on Ice, heading corners into the crowd, I was well ****** off!!
So I started again with a small database, took my time over bringing in the right coaches, just bought one or two new faces and worked for a day or two on a tactic.
Early signs in the friendlies were not good, but I tweaked and tested, brought a decent Assistant in and at the moment my beloved Hammers are doing fine.
3rd in League, Played 13 Won 9 Drawn 3 For 23 Against 8 and 30 points.
Draw v Arsenal, Wins against Man Utd and Liverpool. My strikers are scoring, I'm defending ok and I'm scoring from corners!!!
Ok, the Al may sort my tactic and it may all fall apart but I have been converted, it is more than playable and it's a joy to play at the moment...
The moral of the story is as frustrating as it is just stick with it. Read posts in the tactics forum, tinker and test and you will get it right in the end...
My only gripe?? The weather, I haven't played one game at Upton Park that has been dry yet. Is FM2008 set in Global Warming times??!!
Stick with it and you get there.. From a previously annoyed poster!!
