i think the chairmen in this game are very unrealistic! i was watford and brought them into the premiership in my first season. They wanted me to achieve a respectable league position within the two year plan. so on my first season in the premiership i finished 13th which i thought was good. they didnt offer me a new contract! they hired billy davies. i thought this was unfair and wouldnt happen in real life.

B. Scratch that, most chairmen aren't realistic.

On a more serious note, it may just be while the management is happy with your achivement they perceive your abitily (based on your reputation) as one that does not fit with their perception of the club (club rep) - or in other words that you have taken the club as far as your managerial abilities will allow & that someone else is needed to take the club to the next level.
While this might very well be false, it does happen (a lot) it real life. I can name quite a few examples of managers (in my country) who promoted a club only to be replaced by another manager with a better reputation.
