Unrealistic expectations - West Ham for the title?
I don't know if this has been mentioned before, apologises if it has, but I have just started a game with West Ham and been told I must win the Premier League with TWO YEARS!!
Now surely that is majorly unrealistic in the extreme. Not only that, when my first league game came round at home to Birmingham the bookies claimed they couldn't see anything but a Brum win. Now which am I, useless or title challengers according to the game??
So I presume I face the prospect that if I do very well this season and next, say maybe finishing top six both times, I will be sacked for not winning the title then?

That's correct... Board expectations are a great idea but it's poorly implemented right now.
I was managing Partizan Belgrade one season and their expectations was to qualify for UEFA cup. Fair enough, next season I was expected to be in the final of UEFA cup. When I failed to reach the final they sacked me. A team like Partizan should be happy enough to reach group stages of any European competition, at least until you proove that you can go long way in European competitions for several years.
The board is also considering loaned players when judging signings. I loaned a player and let his club pay wages but my board was saying he was a poor signing. Why? He does not cost my club any money..

Eh?
What have my tactics got to do with it...
A team that stayed up on the last day of the previous season, who according to the game is supposed to get beat at home by newley promoted Birmingham, should be winning the Premiership title within two years?

Ive found the same with villa, although slightly less extreme - im into 4th year now, and won the double last year,
this year though, minimum expectation is, to win league, reach both cup finals and the semis of the EC, this jumped in 1 season from just being happy to be in the competition.
id better not get sacked or i wont be very happy, lol

He was being sarcastic. What he actually meant was "the game is broken, it's not your fault."

I'm afraid you have a tough season in front of you especially if your contract is expiring.
My guess is that you can afford loosing one of the goals but if you don't make it for 3 out of 4 then the board will probably not extend your contract.

I've found the same with my portsmouth game.
The board expect me to reach the 6th round of the fa cup. but I got chelsea in the 3rd round. and despite having finished top 4 in the previous seasons, winning the league cup and reaching group stages in uefa I was sacked after the inevitable loss.
I think the confidence system is improving but there is too much weight on certain things such as the cups, which most teams place well below league expectations.
