i downloaded the nike ball and i extracted it to C

Program Files\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2007\data\graphics\pitch\balls

is this rite or am i doing something wrong

Looks right.

Download the match balls installer, which gives you loads of balls to choose from. That should work for you.

CM Match Balls

If the ball you want isn't in there, just download it separately (like you have with your Nike ball) and just at it in.
