It's no use having a squad full of star players without a decent way for them to play their football.

Default Players standing still - help!

Quick question, I have a lot of problems with the ball going to a player and then the player literally standing still until an opposition player gets to him. It's doesn't matter whether the player is talented or a youngster, it keeps happening.

(btw, this is with the beta patch installed)

So how do I stop this from happening?

I thought the same thing. But nope, they're on high tempo already.

ok then....

Have you tried increasing passing?

What mentality have the players got?

What about Creative freedom?

Maybe the mental stats of some players aren't good enough: stats like anticipation and determination.

It would help to tell us what team you are and your players.

Tempo high, passing normal, creativity normal (all team wide)

Team is Everton.

No transfers in. players include Yakubu, Johnson, Arteta, Neville, Cahil. All are losing the ball when they receive it.

I could set the temp higher I guess but it's already on high. And it would be a silly engine if you can't play slow short passing without players standing still so I don't think it's that.

Very strange.

I've got same thing.

My players wait for opp. player to take the ball away and counter. Tried quick tempo, more creative fr., higher mentality, more TTB even set RWB to rare for everyone. It happens in every of my three savegames (PSG, Atromitos, Roma).

Anyone noticed that thing too? How to prevent these situations?

yeh i've noticed this many times, not sure if it's to do with tactics but it sure is a pain when you get countered from players holding the ball for FAR too long

I think so too. Obviously the closing down has had an effect because players weren't pressured before. Winning the ball is fine, it's when the player seems to lose consciousness that it becomes a problem
