If I am 1 goal up with 15-10 mins left i usually concede how can i stop this put metality to ultra defensive and so on? any tips would be great as it is very frustrating

What I do is reduce forward runs for defensive midfield and offensive midfield players. And reduce closing down slightly.

You can also play counter attacking you know... and waste time.

Several things...make sure your mentalities of your players are not too far apart.

I don't believe you should go ultra at any cost. Ultra defensive has the effect of just hoofing the ball up and inviting pressure back.

What you could do is make sure as many as your attacking players are on normal mentality. Put them on a team slider setting. So when you want to go defensive, just go to team and reduce this to lowest notch of defensive if you want. Normal is fine imho cos players will be able to attack/support. Going defensive means they will spend more energy defending

Another thing you could do is reduce tempo and to make sure you do not play a direct passing game. Now here things may get a bit more interesting...if you have direct passing for one or two players these guys could be the outlet for a quick counter attack

Width allows you to stay compact and works well. Reducing it to narrow may not be too advisable as it opens your flanks up. A good range is normal...middle or slightly off.

Make sure ttb is mixed for as many players as you can.

Actually the hallmark of any good tactic is a solid defense, if your tactic is set up right you shouldn't have to do any of this unless you're up against a team that's a whole division higher than you.

At the moment I am trying 2 options -

4DMs with AMC pulled back to MC with farrow and lone striker.

Tightmark for back 4 and 2MCs and focus passing down both flanks.

Anyway, thanks for the suggestions. I'm the kind of manager who hasnt got a quiet moment during a match, espeically if one goal up, so shutting up shop is what I wanna do

You can try 4-1-4-1. Put everyone on defensive mentality and deep d-line. Forward Runs Rarely for everyone except the wingers and the lone striker. Time Wasting to Max.

Basically have 7 people sitting in front of the penalty box with 3 more lurking behind their lines.
