Default Pre patch and pro patch........!

Has anyone else found that since the beta patch, FM'08 is more difficult? In a recent post, I remarked how well I was doing, relatively, that is.

However, after starting a new game with the patch I can't do right for doing wrong! I've tried Googen's new updated system, his old sysrem, rashidi1's guides and even, in desperation, my dreadful system. The only saving grace, is that they all end in the same way, defeat.

I'm forever blowing bubbles..... no I'm not. I'm forever using a pre made tactical system, feeling guilty and then trying for the umpteenth time to make one of my own. But each ends in failure! Please, will at least one person tell me that he knows how I feel?

Now, if I push up the midfield just a bit I think I've cracked it.......!

i found after the patch i had to modify one of my tactics, but i have found it to be successful so far, albeit not a lot of my goals come from open play but results are fantastic.

In fact i am getting better results after the patch, its early days but i think its just a case of modifying your tactics.

tinkering around and see what comes off

Of course pre patch was easy the closing down didnt work. Players just jogged towards goal and shot.

rashidi1. Please fogive but I can't do screenshots so this may be a little long. I have always liked a 4-1-3-2 system but with the R&L CMs out wide. At home, I mostly use short farrows on those two and none away. I tend to play a counter attacking system when away and also at home against better teams.

Team instructions are -- Mentality = +/- 10/normal. CF = low 5. Passing = 10 up to 14. width = 10, Closing down = 5, TW = 5 DL =6/7. and TKL = 10. Tempo = 12 to 14.

I start with focus passing on mixed because it gives the option for the players to get the ball wide.

My idividual insructions are thus. I base my CDs on defending and that is all. Low mentality 6 for R&LBs and 4 for CDs. Passing for the FBs is 5/7 and 12/14 foe the CDs.Closing down is low 4/5 for the cds and 12 for the FBs. Tackling is mixed for both.

DMC reads down from mentality as 5, 8, 10, 15 and 10 for tackling. Forward runs are none for CDs and DMC and mixed for FBs. RWB are none for CD and mixed for FBs and DCM. Cross ball often for FBs, none for CDs and DCM.

The CM is on afreerole and easy tackling, low 5, closing down. TTBs are often,RWBs are mixed. Wingers read from mentality thus. 14, 5, 12, 15, and TKL 10. They are both set to cross often to either mixed or target man. Mixed TTBs, cross from byeline.

Strikers are one target man and one striker, both taken as is in the drop down in game tactics menu, because I can never work out where the mentality and CF should really be.

I hope that this makes some sort of sense to you and I apologise for omitting some details. I do not lose heavily but sometimes am over ridden in the midfield. My defence seems to be passable but up front and in the middle it starts to go down hill. Many thanks for your kind interest rashidi1 but if all this is rubbish, please tell me so and I shall give up and look to some of the ready meade tactics. But I really do want to succeedwith one of my own. Believe me, it is much more easy to do IRL. Kind regards.

I'm having a similar problem. I did better before the patch than i am now.

My current problems all revolve around the inability to score, having tried everything i'm about to revert back to 8.0.0

I have literally tried everything. I've tried standard 4-4-2, with wingbacks, wingers pushed forward, targetmen holding the ball up, midfielders holding the ball up, slow short passes, fast direct passes and pretty much everything in between.

Half my players refuse to pass the ball, they'll try and turn, and lose it. My strikers couldn't hit an aircraft hanger door never mind a barn door. Were it not for freekicks i probably wouldn't have scored most of the goals i have managed.

In recent games i drew 1-1 against fc kopenhavn(sp?) and 0-0 against wigan.

I think my problem comes down to the morale of the players which is always low or very low and can't get it higher. I'm about to give up
