Matching passing, tempo and width. Advice, please.
I am once again trying to set up my own system of formation and tactics. I am still using my old favourite 4-1-3-2 formation. I have also gone back to CM 01/02 and am hoping to utilise the narrow 4-1-3-2 formation, with short farrows on the three CMs, who are set up as attacking midfielders as per the official manual. I am thinking also of having my FBs on barrows to aid their defensive duties and for the team to attack through the middle and or mixed.
That is my set up. Now, here is my query. As recommended, I intend to match up passing, tempo and width. Have they to be on exactly the same position on the slider,e.g. all on 13 clicks from the left, the top end of normal. Or does it not matter, as long as they are all within their respective ranges of, in this example, mixed, normal and normal? The same question applies to the mirroring of mentality, closing down and defensive line. I hope that I have made myself clear. Kind regards to all.

Having the sliders in the same 'ball park' would suffice, as long as they are not too far apart.
What type of game are you looking to play? Possession football or direct football, as mentality, creative freedom and player instructions will also need to be tweaked.

Thanks gio. I want to have a system whereby I can go into games with the minimal amount of tweaking. I am starting with the in game default player instructions. I would like to have a system that would be able to work in all matches. To this end I am trying to make a counter attacking tactic that will be varied by 1. Using the team mentality slider. 2. Using the team passing, tempo and width sliders as little as possible. The same goes for the closing down and defensive line sliders.
I would like my players instructions to remain constant. Especially so with regards to the defensive players.

I always 'mirror' tempo with time-wasting. So for the more defennsive of your formations I'd have low time wasting reflected with high tempo and vice versa.
I link passing and width. For your more defensive formations where you have a lower mentality and d-line, I'd play with a high end of mixed/low end of direct style of passing (with matching width) which enables you to play an effective counter attack game even with a lowish tempo. Mind you, if you have a really defensive formation with 'slow' tempo and high time wasting, then I wouldn't tick the counter attack box, just doesn't seem to work.
For your more attacking formations I'd go with high end short/low end mixed style of passing with matching width.
Lower your passing gradually depending if it's breezy, windy or a gale. And heighten it gradually if it's drizzle, wet or a downpour.
Hope this helps.

Thanks Font Tomasso!! All assistance is greatly appreciated, as I am determined to use only my own "out of the box in game manual" made tactics to play the game.
