FM 2008: How to create tactics, My approach with Wolves.
Okay so seeing as this forum has died down of late I thought I would open it up to some discussion.
Part 1
I have started a new game as Wolves and I plan to go about showing you exactly how I set up a tactic.
I class these as title challengers so I should be looking to attack lots of teams in this division.
Looking at the squad I can see I have a handful of great strikers who can easily score a lot, I also have an excess of defenders so I will be looking to bring in a few midfielders. I set up my training schedules and I look at my tactics etc. I decided not to delve my hand into my funds instead I picked up 3 players on loan and now I expect certain things from these players.
I decided I would play a 343 for a challenge because of the quality of my attack I expect to be the leagues top scorers easily. I set up my formation and to start with I simply set every player to their positions pre-set although I knew I would have to change this dramatically I decided to show you how I create a tactic.
I then went into my first friendly, Follow this thread for part 2………

Part 2
Okay so this is exactly what happened in my first friendly against Livingston I changed a lot in this game and this is what………
Immediately I could see my full backs were too attacking for this formation so I lowered the mentality and set forward runs on mixed.
My attack was creating good movement which is what I wanted but yet again I spotted another problem with my fullbacks there closing down was far too high so I dropped this by 5 notches.
I started to notice my wingers were not getting back and it as becoming hard to pass to them this is due to the attacking mentality so I decided to drop it to dead centre.
This was all in the first ten minutes this is also when is cored my first goal. Eastwood picked up the ball ran at the defender which is what I want from my outer strikers and he placed the ball.
I got my second on 14 minutes. My centre back played a great ball over to the top to my right winger who ran onto the ball, he got to the by-line and crossed it however it went too far, my left winger picked up the ball and played a low cross to the near post and Eastwood got on the end of it.
I noticed my central striker was not getting involved enough for my liking so I dropped his mentality by two to normal.
I noticed my 2 DMs were leaving my Dc unprotected so I set both forward runs to rarely and I set closing down to team for both of them (Dead centre)
On the 21st minute Bothroyd (Central Striker) picked up the ball deep he then played a through ball to Eastwood who slotted home for his Hattrick.
My defence was getting run ragged which you can expect from the attacking formation so yet again I dropped the full backs mentality to the last notch of defensive.
From 32 minutes onwards I decided to change the DMs, I put barrows on them, I played this till half time and it looked slightly more solid.
I decided my outer strikers were not getting the ball enough so I dropped their mentality to the last notch of normal.
Half Time
I looked at the stats at half time and I was not impressed by a few of them, I decided too.
Drop passing by 2 notches for full backs, DC and DMs
Tackling easy for centre striker.
RWB often for outer strikers.
Second Half
I changed nothing here as I simply wanted to watch my team play.
I don’t know what the hell happened but somehow the final score was 4-3.
